So the first round of Grand Slam is over. I'm curious if now that everyone's played a round, if they'll get better at utilizing switches or knowing when to pass. There are a lot of times where people don't just cut their losses and pass. It seems to me, if you don't know it, pass, unless its a spelling one. The spelling ones, you're just screwed, because you lose about 10 seconds waiting for the questioner to spell out the correct answer. I mean, I know they're up there all nervous with the clock ticking down, but I've seen people waste ten, fifteen seconds on a question they end up getting wrong anyways!

Also, the whole switching back and forth is stupid. Unless you have more switches than your opponent, you're just blowing all your switches. If they switch back, its not like if you switch back again, they'll go, "well, okay then" and waste time trying to answer it. I think if they switch back, you should pass.

I also think some of these players are very hesitant to use switches instead of passing, or as the roomie theorizes, they pass when they mean to switch. Like I said earlier, I'm guessing now that they've experienced the game, they might do better with the switching. Like today's ep, the first match, the one lady wisely did not switch math questions she did not know, as her opponent seemed pretty good at them. The second match though, both guys were bleh at the math questions, taking a little too long to answer. Since both guys were equally slow, they should've switched the question to their opponent if they didn't know it. Switch when its a question you don't know, and you know its a category your opponent sucks at, like math or pop culture trivia. And if they switch back, don't get into a switching war, nor do you waste precious seconds being stumped, just pass that shit!

Perceptive.
