Jay and Silent Bob

geebsCaught Jay and Silent Bob in the movie theater tonight. It was pretty hysterical. And chock full of hotties. Shannon Elizabeth is looking especially hot when she has that glasses thing going. neov('Whoa!') And Ali Larter and Eliza Dushku are especially righteous as bad-ass grrls. Of course, Eliza Dusku always seems to play the same types of roles. (Well, at least in all the movies/TV shows I've seen her in) There's just something about a girl who's into girly things like "drinking, boning, and blowing stuff up!"
And is it me, or do all my reviews seem to boil down to. "It was cool. X was really hot." Anyways, there were some pretty cool trailers. The Musketeer seems kinda cool. As does Iron Monkey. I'll prolly go see those and Jet Li's "The One" when they come out.
But getting back to the movie, how in the hell do you have chyx going, "Awwww!" in the movie? Its not one of those kind of movies! Granted, one time was when Jay thought Justice died and he was all sad, but it was a mockery of that kind of scene! All in all, the movie was good. However, unless you've seen the rest of Kevin Smith's movies and have a relatively good knowledge of various movies and TV shows, you won't get half the jokes. The movie gets bonus points for all the Dawson's Creek references. I nearly busted a gut when Jay started telling JVdB that if Pacey stole Joey from him, he'd drown him in the Creek!
The bad: There was an annoying guy sitting behind us. I hate these guys who talk like they're so smart. I reminded of Annie Hall:
Pretentious Guy: The movie just didn't hit me on a gut level.
Woody Allen: I'd like to hit him on a gut level.
Then there was the couple in front of us on line. This girl was asking her BF why he never wears an undershirt under his shirt. So he tells her because it gets hot and he doesn't want to get all sweaty and asks her if she's ever seen him sweaty and she's all, "yeah, I've seen you after tennis. Woo Hoo!" Woo hoo?" Oh, please! Get a room! Mebbe I'm just a chauvinist, but its just weirds me out when a girl goes "woo hoo!" over some sexy thing about a guy. I think its a combination of it seeming like a guy thing to be enthusiastic about that sort of thing, and that these chyx are doing it in such a girly way. Its like if you're gonna be that crude, go all the way and use stronger words!
I also can't stand it when couples do too much of that PDA thing. There's nothing wrong with being affectionate. Its just some couples go overboard. It seems less like affection and more like a show. Like they're trying to tell everyone "Hey, pay attention to us! We're in a relationship!" Okay, that may sound like jealousy, but seriously. I'm not saying you have to be a cold fish, but you can show affection without being cutesy every five seconds.
