Dammit, I have Avril's "Girlfriend" stuck in my head again. Its so annoyingly poppy, yet catchy. And what the hell, is it me, or is "Sweet Escape" on the radio all the effin' time?! I swear, even on the twenty minute drive to work, I'm guaranteed to hear it twice flicking through the radio stations!

Anyhoo, Heroes? I have under-estimated you! (You know, after all this time, I have no idear what moral minority is referencing with that line!) [livejournal.com profile] sstrickl and [livejournal.com profile] zarathrustra94, if you are honestly thinking of checking this show out after all this time, well, you should! I wanna say its easily one of the top 3 shows this season.

Okay, so things played out exactly how I expected. Except for the fact that Nathan in the White House is actually Sylar using Candace's powers! Holy frakkin' shit! I didn't see that coming at all. And there were no rumors that I heard even alluding to such a thing, so, bloody brilliant! I guess it is fun to actually be pleasantly surprised once in a while!

Anyhoo, so NYC is set up the bomb. And basically sets up the Heroes' universe set up of the Mutant Registration Act. Leading the charge, an Uncle Tom Nathan Petrelli, who keeps his Hero status a secret. Also working for him? Mohinder, as a scientific advisor trying to find a cure for the genetic anomaly giving people their powers. And the Haitian and Matt, who are partners in Homeland Security and hunting down Heroes. And Matt's an even bigger Uncle Tom. He seems to have a lot of hatred for "muties" and takes pleasure hunting them down. That might have to do with the fact that his wife had to take his son and go on the run because of this act, implying his son has powers. Or at the very least are considered problems just because they are born to Heroes. I mean, if they're not even allowed to breed, I assume their offspring is considered as bad as they are.

In the resistance? Hiro, Niki, Peter, Hana and Linderman. As we saw last week, Future Hiro meets Hiro and they talk. Unfortunately, they are interrupted by Matt and the Haitian (who indeed can shut down powers, even those as powerful as Hiro or Peter), who capture normal Hiro while Future Hiro and Ando jump to Vegas to meet up with Peter and Niki. Niki's resigned to life as a stripper, all sad because Micah got killed in the explosion. And, she's going out with Peter, who has a facial scar of unknown origin. And although everyone thinks Sylar blew up and was killed in the explosion, the real exploding person was Peter, and he thinks his brother covered it up to protect him. As we learn later, its most likely Sylar purposely spreading misinformation so he can do what he wants disguised as Nate. Anyhoo, Hiro tries to proposition Niki (who's also definitely in control, with Jessica somehow gone) to get help from Peter and some others. DL, Molly Walker, i.e. the girl Matt saved way back when he was first introduced from Sylar, and Candace. They obviously don't know Candace is dead, and DL must be dead also, as we see later that Sylar possesses his ability. Niki refuses. Ah, and they do keep with continuity with Ando acknowledging his online crush on her back when she was an internet pr0nographer.

Peter decides to help though, much to Niki's chagrin, and saves Future Hiro and Ando from an ambush by Matt and the Haitian. While Future Hiro is knocked out, Peter tells Ando he was killed in the explosion, and that's why Future Hiro's all broody and trying to change the past, because he's trying to save Ando, not just NYC.

Hana and Linderman seem to be running some sort of Hiro underground railroad. Linderman tries to warn Claire, who's getting married to some loser who doesn't know what she is. Oh, and she's also working in the Burnt Toast diner. What the frak?! Is there any other restaurant on that show?! Anyhoo, we find out Matt was kinda privy to Linderman's work, that Linderman was allowed to let the "harmless" Heroes go underground, as long as he directed the "dangerous" i.e. powerful ones to Matt. Unfortunately, Matt reneges on the deal and kills him and Hana, but not before getting Claire's location. He captures her, and takes her to Nate. Who kills her for her power since he's really Sylar in disguise.

Anyways, so what's Sylar been doing besides being all presidential? Well, as said earlier, he was trying to get Mohinder to find a cure, but since Mohinder says all that stuff is hard coded into their DNA, its un-possible. He did find out he could prolly wipe them all out, which Nate/Sylar tells him to do. They'll claim its a cure, and open up clinics, but when people start dying they'll be all, "Oops, our bad!" Mohinder is reluctant to commit genocide, but goes along. His first test subject, Hiro.

While Nate/Sylar gives a speech at ground zero at NYC on the anniversary of the 'splosion and announces the cure, Future Hiro and Peter go to Homeland Security. And pull a Matrix! Its too bad this is only a TV show, because if this was a movie, the scene could be so awesome with a big budget! They whup ass, but are concerned because the upper level contains the Haitian. Fortunately, instead of injecting Hiro with the "cure", he stabs the Haitian with it, because he found the last issue of Issac's comic, which shows him stabbing the Haitian with it.

Anyhoo, Matt's shitting a brick because Peter and Future Hiro are cutting through his men like a hot knife through butter. He manages to kill Future Hiro, but Mohinder barricades himself in with Peter, Hiro and Ando. So Matt calls Nate/Sylar, who's all Eff it and takes off to the sky in the middle of the ceremony to kick ass. He uses DL's phasing to grab Peter out of the room. Then he reveals himself as Sylar, and they both "light up" indicating they both possess Ted's powers. Alas, we don't get to see their fight, which should be epic, because we're too busy seeing Ando trying to snap Hiro out of it after seeing his Future self die. Its like that Simpsons ep where Homer's all, "Oh, and you know that little guy in the white suit is going to do something cool!"

Again, if this was a movie and they had a bigger budget, Peter vs Sylar part deux should truly by epic! Of course, their fight isn't important in the scheme of things, because Hiro jumps back in time and should prevent all this from coming to pass. Though honestly, I can't see how a fight between those to at that point won't wipe out the world! I mean, they both have Claire's invulnerability, and they can obviously survive the explosions they create. So, being unable to kill one another, and being able to cause so much frickin' damage (they can nuke each other!!), that would be a crazy fight.

Anyhoos, like I said, we end with Hiro and Ando jumping back to present day Devereaux building, determined to stop the future from coming to pass, as they see it.

The roomie and I were wondering, with what happened to Charlie, can they change the past? I think you have to think of Hiro and future Hiro as two different entities. Future Hiro can't change his own past otherwise it would create a paradox as he wouldn't have jumped back if he didn't lose Ando when NYC blew up. That's also why Hiro couldn't save Charlie, as if she didn't die, he wouldn't jump back to the past to save her. But Hiro, seeing these future events, actually has the chance to change it for himself, because they haven't occurred. Future Hiro's in a parallel universe where Peter blows up.

Interestingly enough, I'm not sure its always Peter who blows up. I think Future Hiro going back and warning Peter shifts destiny to make it Peter blowing up- since he can't change the past, its like Lost and the universe will compensate. Its like, whichever of the two possessed Claire's regenerative ability at the time is the one who blows up.

On 24, Audrey's a nutter. Jack wants to talk to her, as he thinks he can snap her out of it. But, the shrink from division says no, and bullies Nadia into going with a more dangerous drugging her up plan. Doyle disagress, and tells Nadia to grow a pair. But she doesn't, so Doyle lets Jack get the drop on him so he can break out and talk to Audrey. He barricades himself in a room with her, and makes some progress. So Nadia finally stands up to the shrink and refuses the drug plan. Alas, then Audrey's dad shows up and tells Jack to stay away because he's cursed and everyone he loves dies, blaming him for Audrey ending up in this mess in the first place. After all, she got captured because she went to China to try and save him.

Also, the ruskies' find out about the missing chip. How? Through Dr. Jackson! Heh, is that why the Ori captured him for a while on SG-1, so he could film for 24?! Anyhoo, turns out Lisa (heh, her name is Lisa Miller, I can't help but think of Newsradio) is sleeping with him, but he's a spy for the Ruskies. Lennox finds out about this, and informs Daniels, who's understandably pissed. He threatens to declare her an enemy combatant and lock her away for a very long time if she doesn't help trick Dr. Jackson and/or tries to squirm out of it by revealing her affair with him.

Oh, and turns out the Chinese have the board, but discover its damaged, so they need an expert to fix it. Gee, with Chloe and Morris having a spat over him arming those nukes earlier, and Morris breaking up with her, I wonder if the Chinese are going to try and capture one of them?!

Okay, it looks like from imdb that there were 13 eps of Black Donnellys filmed, and they're up to 11 online. Alas, I don't think it will end at a point where things are actually resolved though. So on the Black Donnellys, Sampson continues to harass Jenny. Seriously, he went from nice guy to psycho real quick. Anyhoo, she threatens to do whatever she has to defend herself, but she's still pretty freaked. I'm guessing she doesn't want to call Tommy to take care of it though, even though he prolly easily could.

Jimmy and Joanie basically spend the entire ep in Whitey's apartment, getting high, screwing around, and trying to figure out what to do with Whitey's body. Heh, I actually don't think they resolve that!

Sean romances jukebox girl some more. Hey, she's kinda cute. Heh, they have a talk about dead fathers, and he reveals his dad was murdered by "greaseball italians". Hilariously, he realizes the same time I do that Nadine might be Italian, but she says she's Greek.

Turns out the building that Tommy, Kevin, and Joey cleared out was burned to the ground soon afterwards. Then Jenny's dad comes to Tommy asking for help (they finally address why people keep coming to him, I guess it is indeed because of his dad) because his building was falsely condemned. Turns out its part of that weird deal the Eye-talians and that Councilman and now Dokey have going, buying out part of the neighborhood to build high rises. But there's something more to it, that has to do with that lot that Nicky got shoveled at. Nicky hasn't figured out what that is yet, but he seems to think he's getting close.

Anyhoo, Tommy tries to track down a head to crack to fix Mr. Riley's problem. They figure out the condemnation order was filled by some engineer known to be on the take. They're pointed to an old family friend, Franny, who was friends with their dad. He was in with Huey to, but he fell out of favor about the same time Bobby Donnelly was killed. He says they can put the screws to the legitimate corporations paying off the engineer by threatening to go to the papers. He traces the paper trail, but after getting to a certain company, he tells them there's nothing he can do.

Cpt. Janeway calls her boys, having received a call from Franny. She begs them to back off. Kevin, who may not be lucky, but is a skilled gambler, could tell the Mom was hiding something, so he kidnaps Franny and beats the crap out of him. Tommy finds him and joins in and tells them the company is owned by that aforementioned Eye-talian/Irish alliance. They eventually piece together that their dad was killed because he wasn't pleased with this deal with the Italians. Tommy is so pissed that the implication is that he and Kev beat Franny to death.

Tommy then goes to Dokey, who reveals Huey was there, and couldn't do anything to save the dad. Tommy also subconciously knows it was his mom who sent him to the meeting, though I'm unclear if she knew he was going to be killed at it, or if she just pressured him to do something, and that's why she's reluctant to have her boys getting involved now, because she doesn't want them to die the same way. But, he's unwilling to believe his mom has any involvement in his dad's death, so he's trying to remain blissfully ignorant, for now.
