By hook and by crook, I managed to watch The House of Flying Daggers today. Pretty cool flick. Had some cool fight choreography in it. Its also bloodier than CTHD or Hero, especially at the end with all the blood splashing around. But the story is interesting. Who knew you could do an undercover police story in Ancient China? I did see one of the big surprises coming, but the other I didn't. Had a sad ending, which seems to be par for the course for these Chinese films. Can't they have an ending a little more upbeat? Anyways, the ending for this was particularly disappointing. When it happened I was all, wtf?! This is the end?!

So I had a feeling Leo was actually working for the Flying Daggers, but I didn't expect him and Mei to be lovers. Or rather, that he was in love with her. Though like he said, her falling for Jin was a little out of the blue and a little too quick. I guess he's free spirited, and that something to admire in their world, where they're mere pawns in a war. But that Leo, first putting the dagger through her heart, and then pretending to toss a dagger at Leo so she'd pull that dagger out to deflect his and bleed out even though it wasn't neccesary? What a jerk! So the whole end where she dies and Jin cries over her body while Leo walks away to die after what he had done, what's up with that?! Its all very tragic.

Dang, is it gonna snow again?
