Nov. 10th, 2004 08:13 amMy DVDs came in the mail on Monday, so that was awesome. I was kinda put off when I came back from work at 3pm and the mail hadn't arrived yet. So I killed some time at the mall. Alas, the cute girl at the video game store has a boyfriend. I was of course back a few hours later when the roomie tried to get the new LotR game, but given his distaste for lines, he decided to try and get it some other time. We had eaten dinner at Umezono's with
clevemire,
dashoka, and C-note, then saw the Incredibles afterwards. It was pretty awesome, I enjoyed it. And though I had seen the new RotS trailer, it was cool to see it on the big screen.
Dang, the complex is gonna start painting our building, and they told residents to take down their dishes or they would be taken down. Of course, they also said to do that when they were replacing the wood paneling, but they didn't. Its all total BS anyways. They've been trying to get people off dishes for the longest time now. I think they got some deal from Comcast and have been trying to come up with some excuse to get people to take their dishes down and be forced to switch to Comcast. I mean, when I'm in the leasing office and I overhear them talking about the dishes, that's what it sounds like. I was amused by the one time I was there and one of the leasing guys was telling one of the maintenance guys to start telling people they need to take down their dishes and was all "they should be getting cable anyways". And the maintenance guy said he had a dish so the leasing guy felt stupid and was all, "Uh, I'm sure we can make an exception for you." Not surprisingly, the maintenance guy did nothing for getting rid of the dishes. Anyways, sure Dish sucks during really bad weather, but its a better price than cable for what we get. I remember this one guy trying to get us on cable, and I was thinking to myself, there is just no way he can give us a better deal. I mean, the supposedly good offer he had cost more and gave us less channels. And they don't have time-shifted WBs, so no matter what, we'd have a degradation in service. Owel, hopefully the dish won't be down tonight or tomorrow. If they do take it down, I don't mind not having it from Friday to Sunday, because there's nothing I watch then. Well, except for Arrested Development. But that's just one half hour show that the GMA prolly Tivos anyways. Anyways, if its after Thursday, that still gives us time to remount it before any of the shows I watch come back on. Though I guess if I do miss it, I can get the eps online, which I did with last weeks Veronica Mars, which was pretty good. And so comes Tuesday night TV talk:
Veronica Mars is still very good. Like I've said before, they do a good balance between the case of the week while still revealing more about the various characters and dropping more clues (and opening up more quesions!) about what really happened with Lilly Kane's murder. Its cool how VM can take generic cases and still manage to mix it up and surprise you. Like last week's election ep. Nice little surprises there. And it was interesting to see more of Logan's family life, and its f'ed up! This weeks was pretty good as well, but the fake-out was kind of lame. If Veronica's dad shot the guy in the shoulder and he survives, why did they have him all covered up on the stretcher in the beginning and make his injury look seriouser than it is. And they made it look like there were too stretchers. It did make the ending more exciting though, because when Veronica and her dad were winding down from a hard day and doing father-daughter bonding, I kept expecting gunshots ringing out upstairs all of a sudden. Logan and Weevil teaming up was neat, and they finally say Weevil did know Lilly. But is it in a non-screwing around way? Weevil did seem to act like it wasn't that kind of relationship at all. And the tattoo? I do like the theory on the forums with people saying maybe Lilly and him are half-brother and sister. Then he wouldn't be lying when he said that Lilly was his little sister's name and that's why he had it on the tattoo.
I also think the whole Duncan and Veronica possibly being brother and sister is a red herring. I mean, sure, him all of a sudden breaking up with her and Lilly telling Veronica he and her are meant to be and she would talk to him and then the next day being all "maybe you should find someone else" does make it seem like that's a possibility. But I think her mom and his dad would be a little more admant in not letting them date. Also, I don't think that's why he broke up with her, or if he did, he realizes now that he's not his sister. Otherwise, that ep where he goes off the anti-depressants is messed up, because that would mean he was having fantasies about his sister!
I'm just parroting what I said in gtg- if I was Luke, and that TJ came over and cock-blocked me like that, I'd be all "get the hell out of here, I don't even like you!" Its like dude, can't you see he's making a fancy dinner for his hot girlfriend, who came over with a sexy costume to wear (well, I guess he didn't see that, but still). And I still can't see how some people are starting to like that Logan guy. But her getting all drunk with him and his friends? And then Dean just dumping her like that. Its like, "hmm, when's the best time to abandon my girlfriend? I know, when she's hanging out with a bunch of drunk guys!" I mean, she's Rory, of course nothing was happening, so there wasn't anything to be jealous about, and I think he knows that. Which makes him leaving a sad and vulnerable girl who will prolly drunkenly mope about him to some drunk guys idiotic. Who knows where that could lead. Ida know, maybe its because I have such a dirty mind, but the end where she jumps out of the limo did make me thing, did she? Of course not. But it sure seems like it to me.
