Ah, so it'll go to game 7. Owel, hopefully the Sox win. Yeah, I was born and raised in NY, but 1) I come from a family of hardcore Mets fans (you still one, [livejournal.com profile] isabel79?) and 2) they've been to/won the world series enough. Not that I've been watching, as there's plenty of other TV to be watched:

Ha, a critic was right when he said it was basically for the fans, and they made no real effort to intdoctrinate newbies into it. I mean, they did a really, really quick summary on Crichton's deal but didn't go into any of the other characters at all. And they say he has the secrets of wormhole technology in his head, but they don't tell you how it got there. Now, I've watched the show on and off, so I know most of the whole deal, but even I got a little lost. Like, when the hell did Sikozu start being able to make fireballs? Anyways, it was a neat little resolution with an ending that leaves it open for further adventures. And sure, D'Argo died, but you never actually see him die. I mean, he's mortally wounded and making a last stand against the Scarrans, but you never actually see it. Same with Jool. Sure, the temple got blowed up with her in it, but maybe she survived. And Sikozu is definitely alive. Sure, Scorpius roughed her up a bit, but pale guy found her and you don't know what happened to them. Sure, the planet's surface was immolated by the wormhole bomb that Crichton created, but they could have found a ship offscreen and flew off. And maybe they picked up an unconcious, dying D'argo! Maybe its because I've seen too many of these kinda shows, watched too many movies, read too many comics, but unless they show the actual body, I'm skeptical. And even then, they've still had them come back.

What was up with the whole Luke-Dean animosity?! It just seemed like conflict for the sake of conflict. And Rory and Lorelai are total hotties and all, but who would want to be seen in public with them. They're so embarassing! But anyways, you know the Rory-Dean pairing isn't long for this world. And since there was no real conflict with L/L, they're bring Christopher back next week to throw a monkey in the wrench?

I've really been enjoying Veronica Mars. It manages to pull off the fine balance between the big mystery (who killed Lilly Kane?) and case of the week fare. And even doing the case of the week thing, the characters still move forward. I mean, a lot of them seem so stereotypical at first, but as you learn more about them (and they don't do it in a weird, forced manner), you find they aren't so easy to classify, and they have more depth. I think the characterization is great. Last night was a great example. She's on the outs with the cool crowd she once belonged to, and they could just portray those guys as rich assholes, which they did for the last few eps. I mean, Duncan, while still very cold and distant towards her (though it seems to be mostly the anti-depressants he was put on), is sort of okay with her. But Logan was her best friend's bf. Regardless of everything that happened, the four of them had too many fun times together not to be somewhat friends. So it was cool to see that. And see Logan warm back up to her over the whole Lilly tribute. Though that thing in the end with Weevil was weird. I dunno, maybe they were trying to show the tribute was so moving even the school thug was touched. Or maybe it was a clue or hint of some involvement between him and Lilly. Or maybe they just didn't want you to forget about him since he wasn't in the last ep at all. Whatever the reason, it still seemed odd for him to just show up for those three seconds.

Dang, with the budget mess, it looks like they're only opening one of the COS positions. Which totally sucks, because now competition for it is really stiff. If there were two, I was confident I had a chance, but with just one right now, I don't know. I mean, I think I'm solid knowledge wise, but Js been taking the initiative and doing all these things, and D is well versed in networking. And S used to be a COS, but he's been gone for a while, but we're understaffed, it may be quickest to give him the COS position so they can keep him. Who knows how this will turn out. I was kinda banking on getting this, but I don't think I should get my hopes up. I was hoping to be able to get a new car. Or even a computer of my own! Or not feel guilty when I go to the mall and drop like a hundred dollars on on-the-whim clothes shopping. I did pick up some new stuff at AE Outfitters yesterday, as well as the new Drizzt book. It'll be interesting to see how this current story arc plays out.
