After work, had dinner at Mama Fu's. Just ordered the large size curry rolls for dinner though. Those things are addictive. Or maybe its just the filipino blood in me, since they're so much like Lumpia.

Got home, and the guys were over for poker as usual. I myself finished up PoA and caught an ep of Degrassi. The B plot was weird, because they have the Manny character all "everyone in the school talks about me" and how she's a social outcast. Of course, one wouldn't understand why in the US since they didn't show the ep where she got knocked up and decided to have an abortion. Then again, I missed the ep before this one, which was supposed to Craig and Ashley heavy, so maybe they kinda explained it away as everyone just thinking Manny's a tramp for hooking up with Craig. The A plot had Marco on his first date with that Dylan guy. The Marco character does remind me a lot of my brother, [livejournal.com profile] sparkyboy. As an aside of how much my life is very TV-influenced, my brother actually came out to me after we watched the block of Degrassi eps dealing with Marco coming to terms with his sexuality. Seeing that I was cool on the subject of homosexuality, he decided it would be okay to tell me.

But getting back to PoA, I made good on my promise to myself to finish it by yesterday. Had to stay up late, and I'm still tired since I haven't gone to sleep before 1am for the past week (which sucks when you have to wake up at 6 the next morning for 8-12 hours of work), but I definitely enjoyed it. Though after reading this, I would say the movie for PoA is the one that is least like the book its based on. I mean, they cut out several big things! But anyways, this is my favorite one of the series so far. And really, after reading this, how can anyone doubt Ron/Hermoine? ojv('Man, its obvious!') Gonna start Goblet of Fire today. Overall, I like Rowling's writing style, especially the subtleties. I like how constantly you'll read something that seems so minor or insignificant a detail and it ends up actually being a big deal later on. I mean, its not an uncommon writing technique, but she seems to be able to hide it in stuff that sounds like flavor text so you don't even realize its significant. And it helps wrap things up nice and neat. Everything that happens has an explanation.

Owel, so I have the next two books to finish. But what else to do next week? Make sure I end up breaking even on the wager with [livejournal.com profile] clevemire, get a haircut. Start prepping for my surgery on the 20th. There's something else I need to get working on soon, that I can't keep procrastinating on. I just don't know how I go about accomplishing it. But I definitely have to at least try.
