Dammit, I have that damn "Wonderwall" cover stuck in my head now. Well, it did work much better on the OC than it did in Smallville last week. Of course, the scene (from the OC, not Smallville) reminds me , who still buys records? Well, besides [livejournal.com profile] psyched_out, cause everyone knows he has a ginormous record collection. But its like mostly old stuff. Who still gets records for modern day releases? I guess there is some sort of demand, since they actually still do release stuff on vinyl.

Anyways, last night went to the Vortex with the roomie, [livejournal.com profile] clevemire (ha, now people know!), Joseph, C-note, [livejournal.com profile] psyched_out and the little lady, and [livejournal.com profile] turdburgler and Cykes. It was a good time, though being half blind I couldn't really check out the table of hotties sitting to my right. I thought we had ordered too many appetizers, but apparently not, since they were all scarfed down and people still had room to finish their meals. I had the coronary bypass of course, but Charlie joked about putting butter on it since there was some butter left over from one of the appetzers. I, of course, had to try it, and hey, butter on the coronary bypass kinda works.

Talked about this and that, Scott gave me the latest Mt. Vernon gossip. I really think I could pass myself off as someone from the class of '94. But sounds like there's prolly not gonna be a reunion, it would be fun to crash it and confuse the hell out of people.

Oh, BTW, the reason we went was to give me a send-off, in case I leave and never come back! How macabre! I guess I head up to NYC tonight and Flip-land tomorrow. Hopefully all goes well, and I'll give people a heads up if I manage to get some sort of internet access over there. But wow, two whole weeks possinly without internet access or American telly? I might go gnuts!

hey, people still buy new records! it caters to most markets--of course hip-hop is prevalent on wax, so djs and fans stock up on them--and some "classic rock" types like to have the box sets and new albums by old artists on vinyl because it goes with the rest of their collections (and maybe they're getting old and they like having a 12x12 cover instead of 5x5--you ought to relate to that)...and indie labels generally run vinyl pressings since they like to look cool and lots of indie kids associate records with hipsterisms (check it out, i'm so into the music that i listen to it on supposedly antiquated equipment--yeah, fuck th' man!)...and then there are all of the weirdos i listen to who issue their albums vinyl-only (because really, how else are you going to hear releases by avarus, rhband, kemialliset ystavat, the anaksimandros, keyhole, sunburned hand of the man, no neck blues band, scorces, drona parva, migrantes, double leopards, and countless others)...

and you'd better have some account of this trip, either while you're there or when you get back--i want details!

Yeah, I figgered them hip-hopper DJs had an excuse, and I can see the classic rock types wanting to be conssistent. But I bet those indie kids think they're so great for being all luddite.

Of course, I'd give an account! Even if its just me loafing around.

Mum told me you guys had left already...

Anyway, I think they have most US shows, assuming you're staying in a place that has cable. But then you just have to know when the show is. Missed many a show that way cause I forgot... Anyway, hope you have fun!

Ha, now people know? It's not like I was hiding, and there's virtually nothing there if you follow that link (though I was pleased to discover that my one sentence journal is 59% masculine).

Well, we're close enough to being gone.

But I might be able to watch my shows, how egg-citing! I don't have to worry about Alias, and Las Vegas and 24 I can wait on. Nothing special is happening on Smallville, so I don't mind waiting on that either. But Gilmore Girls, OTH, the OC, and Angel I really hate having to miss, since they're all in the middle of or are about to start sine some big things.

But there should! What happened to food and movie commentary? Like, how was Girl Next Door?
