Feb. 14th, 2016 07:35 pmSaw Deadpool with the usual suspects. It was pretty enjoyable. I don't think the studio was expecting it do well as it did (biggest opening for an R-rated movie, ever), so I wanna say they purposely kept the connections with their overall X-men universe very limited. But I think that was a good thing, it didn't have to get hung up on some greater mythos, allowing it to be simple and fun- boy meets girl, they fall in love, boy gets cancer and leaves girl to not put her through the pain of watching him die, and in his desperation puts his trust in a shadowy organization that says they can cure him (and give him super powers to boot). They do, but hideously disfigure him at the same time and intend to enslave him for their own ends, and boy goes on a hyper violent revenge spree.
Heh, apparently the studio slashed the budget at the last minute, so they actually worked that into the plot, with Deadpool unable to get into real crazy gunplay having "forgotten" his guns and ammo at key points. As I said, it was an R-rated movie, though in a post Kick-Ass/Kingsman world, the action wasn't new or innovative compared to the over the top violence of those movies.
After, had lunch at Carraba's and then finished up the game of Time Stories we started last week during the Superbowl. We did finally beat it, though in the end we ended up winning on a 50-50 guess. But yeah, the game itself is pretty fun, I like the whole repeating things over and over until you get the perfect run.
Had enough time after to play another game of the Big Book of Madness. Actually did better with 4 people rather than 5. With 5 people, the turns were always the same. Like I ended up not being able to do anything the first game because I just couldn't get any rewards because I could solve any curses because we needed to solve them before we got to my turn. Like I said, we won, but it was still very close. Which is troubling since we did it on easy. And I would say the guys are better than average, so I think we usually do very well. But if our best barely lets us beat it on easy, I can't imagine what medium or hard are like. (Or how badly casuals would get beat down in this game)
Had dinner at Willy's, and cool, you can get their frito's burrito with something other than chicken. Though we had a weird experience.
clevemire was in front of me, and they made his burrito, but then some guy in front of him had claimed it was his. So they had to make another one for him, which confused the hell out of the other server, because they took the tortilla wrapper that was meant for my burrito, so the server ended up skipping me because I guess he thought I was already taken care of and had moved on to the ex-roomie.
