Aug. 4th, 2014 07:41 amIn addition to GotG, finally caught Raid 2. Its funny, because the name doesn't make sense at all in the context of the movie. But they're stuck with it, because the first movie was about a police raid on a building, so they need to keep the name to signify its a sequel. But yeah, this movie is basically an undercover cop/martial arts flick.
The martial arts action is pretty sweet, but oh so brutal. Like I knew a claw hammer was a brutal weapon, particularly if you hit someone with the claw side. But I guess I forgot that since it is a claw, that once its in there, you could use it to do raking and ripping moves. Gross!
But yeah, since the first movie was about a bunch of cops stuck in a tenement full of people trying to kill them. Basically, exactly like the Judge Dredd movie with Karl Urban, except instead of a lot of gunplay, its a lot of Silat based martial arts action. Which, I guess its because us South East Asians are small, but damn are the martial arts in that portion of the world pretty G-D brutal.
Anyways, since they were stuck in a building, that kinda limited what they could do. So with this movie out in the rest of the world (well, Indonesia), they get to choreograph more varied scenes.
