Jul. 2nd, 2014 07:28 amSo the zip code change for my area took effect yesterday. As far as I can tell, I'm still in Cobb County, but no longer in Smyrna- I'm now considered in Atlanta-Vinings. (My street addy is still the same, so anyone who needs the new zip for their contact info, lemme know) When we got the notice about the zip code change from the USPS, it was all population growth in the area, many new businesses blah blah blah requiring some zip code shuffling. So I was all, sure, whatever.
Looking online though, it sounds like people in the area pushed for the zip code change because they want to be part of Vinings instead of Smyrna because its cooler and fancier or something? Although the way you here Vinings people tell it, the USPS was already wanting to rezone the area, and sold it to the affected people as "be part of Vinings!" to get support without letting the actual Vinings people have a say in the matter. And they were like petitioning to stop the change and everything, like, we don't want these Smyrnians becoming Viningsers!
Its like, the zip code change being about Smyrna Post Office not being able to handle the area, that was fine with me. But this whole Smyrna vs Vinings thing just weirds me out.
