Apr. 9th, 2014 08:49 amWhat the frick, why has Glee been releasing the music from the past few episodes (and the next one!) as EPs instead of individually? Its annoying, because when they release the songs individually, they're available the Sunday night before on itunes, but for some reason if they're together as an EP, they actually do have to be released on the usual Tuesday release date (well, Monday after 11pm for itunes) for music.
Like them doing a special CD for the 100th (and 101st!) episode I get. Maybe even the one after the permanent move to NY, but last night's ep and next week's ep don't seem "special" enough for them to get their own EPs. You can still buy the songs individually electronically, so I don't see the point in packaging them together. Although I guess physically, if they print a CD for each ep, instead of doing compilations and certain points of the season, they can make more CDs that they can try and sell. But that doesn't seem very cost effective, because who the hell still buys CDs? At the very least, who's going to buy a Glee CD for each episode?!
Or hmm, looking around I guess they aren't releasing a CD for each EP. They did for 100, and I thought they did for New New York, but I guess I was wrong. And looking at the pricing, I guess getting the EPs, you're getting the songs for $.99 each instead of the usual $1.29. So I guess it is a better deal.
In any case, color me surprised that next week's music has already leaked:
Addicted to Love- the Robert Palmer song, as done by Artie. It sounds fine, pretty much just like the original.
I Want to Know What Love Is- Mercedes doing the Foreigner classic. Again, pretty faithful rendition of the original, but I think Amber does a really good job with it.
Let's Wait a While- Janet Jackson, by Artie and Mercedes. Its pretty good. Though its interesting its being done as a duet by Artie and Mercedes, since they're not a couple. Maybe they don't sing it "together", but do the thing where they're separately singing it on their own, but for purposes of the performance on the show, they cut back and forth within the scene?
Love is a Battlefield- Kurt and Blaine doing the Pat Benatar number as a duet. Like the other songs this ep, they do it straight up, no changes. I think they do it well together.
