Apr. 1st, 2012 01:19 pmSo the new Ultimate Spiderman cartoon started up today. Its going for a little more humor than Young Justice, though not as wacky as something like Batman: Brave and the Bold. As far as I can tell, it doesn't take place in the Ultimate universe. (They do give a reason why the show is called Ultimate Spiderman in the first five minutes of the first episode)
Even though it follows the adventures of Spiderman, unlike some other superhero cartoons, its not insular. It very much covers the entirety of the Marvel Universe, and all manner of characters show up/are referenced. One thing they did in the first couple of episodes though, and I wonder if they'll continue to do it, or if it was just done in the initial eps to establish the characters to folks who aren't familiar with the Marvel Universe, is Peter narrating a quick 10-15 second blurb on who this person or that is.
More stuff: ( under a spoiler cut )
All in all, I found the show amusing enough.
