Since it was such a nice day out (wasn't it snowing just a few days ago?!), and I had a hankering for Checker's, drove over to Cobb Parkway. I'm not one to normally eat outside, but I did, having a bacon cheese champ combo and a chili dog. Then, hit the usual places.

While perusing the magazine section of Barnes & Noble and reading the latest ish of "Special Weapons for Military and Law Enforcement", saw an article on Ashbury's TRC rifle, chambered in .300 Winchester Magnum. I think that was the actual weapon used in that ep of 24 that I was trying to figure out what kind of rifle Jack was covering Tony with, rather than their ASW rifle chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum. I mean, the Internet Movie Firearms Database still lists the weapon as the ASW 338LM. But if you look compare the pic from the ep with a pic of the actual rifle, besides the color differences, if you look closely the receiver is slightly different. Damn, I haven't been able to find any images online of the TRC, but I'm pretty sure that's what Jack is actually using.

Anyways, regardless, the .300WM was still a little overkill at that range and situation, Jack would've been better off using a semi-auto in 7.62mm. I mean, at that short a distance, it still would've been pinpoint accurate, and he prolly wants a lot of speed if he needs to shoot a bunch of guys before they shot Tony.

Soldier of Fortune also had an article on Krebs' Tactical 12, a modified version of the Saiga-12 shotgun. It can't fire full-auto like the USAS-12 or AA-12, but its got that AK reliability. Interesting, I didn't know they had 20 round drums for the Saiga.

Anyways, after reading up on the latest in guns, video games, and RPGs, hit Rita's for some ice, since again, it was a nice day. Thankfully, they had some new flavors this week, I had a root beer.
