Had the usual suspects over for the Superbowl last night. The roomie made his cheese dip (which he hadn't done in a long, long time. And I think technically, its mattm's recipe) plus a bean dip with bits of bacon and C-note ordered entirely too much big samich, having ordered 2 six footers (and neither were an eye-talian!) I'm not a big sports fan, obviously, but it was amusing to see
propace on pins and needles throughout the game, freaking out the Steelers wouldn't win it.
The commercials I was looking out for were the trailers for Transformers 2, Star Trek, and G.IJoe. The first two look pretty cool. I still don't like the robot forms of the Transformers, but the action looks egg-citing.
I still think the Joe movie is gonna end up being crap. It does look a little better than I was expecting though. Its odd that Baroness and Destro (played by the Ninth Doctor/Claude from Heroes, and sans steel mask- I'll be very miffed if he starts wearing it because he gets horribly disfigured or something, because it was a family thing to wear it, not something as prosaic as your typical supervillain hiding his horrid face sort of thing) are the people who feature most prominently. Well, okay, I can see why they'd have a lot of the Baroness slinking around in her cat suit or fancy cleavage-y party dresses. But its G.I.Joe: The Rise of Cobra! Not Destro and his Iron Grenadiers or Destro: CEO of MAD corporation. Destro was an ally of Cobra who sold them their weapons, he wasn't really Cobra. And hopefully there will be a lot of bad-ass martial arts action with Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. While Snake Eyes looks fine, I don't like Storm Shadow- its generic white ninja outfit!! I would've like to seen his version 17 outfit (sans the Cobra symbol face) mebbe with his version 2 color pattern, and the cloak from version 25.
This was the funniest commercial, if only for a koala in glasses getting punched in the face, though you think like PETA or some other animal group would complain. I mean, they're not punching an actual koala, but it is violence against an animal.
