every single night, the same arrangement
Mar. 15th, 2007 08:20 amI really hate it when I need to wake up early but can't get to sleep.
Had pre-Lost dinner with the usual suspects at the Eye-talian Kitchen. Service was slow as usual. And then we come back and the frickin' digital cable and internet conks out! I mean, I was able to get a signal in my room as it doesn't go through the box, but its still annoying. It looks like its some sort of upstream filtering problem as the boxes were still getting program info and the cable modem indicated the downlink data stream was fine. And the home office could remotely reset the boxes, confirming data was going to the boxes. But the house server couldn't get out. It did start working again at midnight at least, and is currently working as I type this (though I prolly just jinxed it and I won't actually be able to post this). I did noticed the problem intermittently during the day, for like periods of 10 to 20 minutes, but things seemed to be working fine before we left for the Kitchen. And I kept using the hiptop to connect to the house server throughout dinner to make things were still up. So I thought things were fine.
Owel, called the cable peeps, and they should be sending someone today, hence me needing to be asleep right now so I can get enough sleep before the guy is scheduled to come. (Of course, its working right now, but hopefully they can figure out what was causing the problem because I don't want it to occur again tonight or the next day.) Hopefully writing this all up will tire me out so I can get some frakkin' sleep. I wish the sleep function on my TV worked, that way I could leave it on as I tried to go to sleep, because the noise helps me drift off to sleep. (You know how I can't stand the silence!) Surprisingly, there's actually passable viewing choices at this time in the morning. TNT has Angel and Charmed, Buffy's on F/X, Roswell on Sci Fi, DC on TBS.
As I said, the cable came back up in time for me to catch the midnight showing of South Park, and Jericho and Crossing Jordan actually recorded, and Lost is of course available on ABC's website, so I didn't end up missing anything.
