Aug. 14th, 2004 09:10 amIs it me, or are music videos that connect to each other neat? Its like a multi-episode story! hlgv('First one thing happens, then another thing happens right after it. Its so sequential!') I was watching VH-1 and caught the new Hoobastank video. So the reason the cops found them at the end of the last video was because the lead singer dude and the pawn shop owner were both undercover cops trying to bring down this ring of jewel-thieves who masquerade as a rock band? And damn, how long has "The Reason" been on the countdown?! Its like everytime I'm flicking through the music video channels that damn video is on one of them. Well, that and Outkast's "Caroline". And there was "Hey Ya", what's with these Outkast songs being played everywhere until your ears bleed? And when did VH-1 start showing Gretchen Wilson's "Redneck Woman"? But I guess VH-1 has shown "country" videos before. Though many would argue Shania's, Faith's, and the Dixie Chicks' country cred.
The roomie picked up the latest two Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon graphic novels. This has been a really cool series so far, I like how they've expanded the mythos of the movie (though I guess it was based on a novel, so the comic is just covering stuff in the book or books that wasn't in the movie?) Its interesting to see the characters more fleshed out and see more of their background and connection to each other. And the new characters are pretty cool as well. I can't wait to see the next novel where its Li Mui Bai vs Gong. The Gong character is cool, though he has no chi proficiency, his technical skill is just so good that he can actually counter these fancy chi-empowered attacks just through swift dodging and deft parrying. Speaking of those fancy martial arts techniques with the weird names, reading this stuff reminds me of Hiroko's journals. The crazy bitch. Its no wonder Kaz left to do his own thing after having to deal with that wacko, and that self-righteous goody-goody Takeo, and that little brat Aya.
