Some people think I'm not an animal person because I seem skittish around animals. Its not that I don't like animals, cause I do, and they like me! Its just I have this psycho-somatic thing about touching animals. The family got me so psyched out that I would have some sort of horrible allergic reaction that I can't pet an animal without having to wash my hands a few minutes later. So people think when I don't pet or hold their pets, its because I don't like animals. Its just a weird psychological fear of allergic reactions. I mean, I'll talk to the animals all the time. I just don't pet or hold them. Of course, people think I'm really skittish around Chris's ferrets. But that's because they tried to crawl up one of my pant legs! Well, that and the cellphone commercial where the guy sticks his tongue out at the ferret and it jumps up and bites it.

breakfast

I wish I could wake up on a work day feeling fresh and renewed, and have a nice big breakfast. But alas, I'm always tired when the alarm goes off. Its like, one more hour of sleep, please! Even worse, I usually wake up a minute before the alarm goes off, cheating me out of an extra few minutes of sleep. Seven in the morning is too early to be in at work. Of course, I don't live that far, but it takes me so long (well, not too long) to get ready that I have to wake up early. I'd like to have a breakfast other than pop tarts. Something with sausage and bacon and eggs.

I've also found I've rarely eaten at IHOP for breakfast, usually getting breakfast type food for dinner there. Hey, it works. Well, stuff like omelets and breakfast meats, and cheese-grits with eggs and hash browns, not bowls of cereal. Because a bowl of cereal for dinner is just ridiculous! And what's with the weird things people won't eat. I rarely eat vegetables, unless its some sort of potato product, a burger topping, or in a chicken finger, salmon, or BBQ pork salad. And the only seafood product I'll eat is sushi. So vegetables and seafood, that's normal to not like. But people not liking eggs (and not being some sort of vegetarian), or mustard blows my mind! Actually, when I went to dinner with Joseph and Krug, Joseph totally shocked me. He doesn't like butter! How can you not like butter and its creamery goodness!? He was all, "I prefer baked potatoes only with sour cream and salt"! Sick! No bacon, butter, or chives?! That's just ridiculous. And burgers being better without cheese?! My brain was short circuiting! "Cannot compute!" Damn. I'm really hungry now. But getting back to weird tastes, it also baffles me how Chris abhors family style eateries. You know, where you order a bunch of different entrees like at a Chinese restaurant? I can understand if the portions were small, but the portions are too much to eat by itself! Or actually, I can see him not liking it if the people he's with orders crap. Because then people will be taking the only thing he can eat from his order, and he can't get re-imbursed food wise. But anyways, I think "family-style" is essential at chinese restaurants! I mean, variety is the key there. General Tso's, Mongolian Beef, etc. You can't just have one. Owel, enough food talk.

Actually, as I was walking around thinking of bacon (because I'm weird like that), I remembered another friend who has a weird food taste. When Tara and I were digging into Chinese the other day, I found out she eats chicken, but doesn't like beef! And not for any religious or hippie reasons, but because she doesn't like the taste! How can you not like beef?! Okay, I guess people don't have to like a food just because I'm declaring that "normal people like X". Anyways, I'll stop talking about food now. For real this time. Anything else written today will be about the only two other things I seem to write about, TV/movies or girls.

Ever have one of those times where you're just sitting at work and a wave of sleepiness hits you? I was at my computer, complaining and wondering where all the damn pens around here keep disappearing to, when I had this sudden urge to close my eyes and fall asleep. If I didn't know any better, I'd say someone was trying to cast a sleep spell on me. But I think some guy is starting work on moving equipment for the renevation of the machine room, so his hammering snapped me out of me reverie. Or at least I thought I heard hammering. I swear I keep seeing ghosts out of the corner of my eye.

All this food talk, I didn't feel what I had in the freezer was sufficient enough for lunch. So I decided to pick something up at Junior's (alas, I have to bring it back to the NOC to eat it, else I would've said "Junior's, anybody?"). I was pleasantly surprised that it was cool and breezy outside. Its about time, I mean, its mid-October already. I was getting tired of this breaking into a sweat just walking the 100 yards or so from here to the Student Center. Of course, when I walked in, the guy behind the counter was pointing at me. I was all, "What the?!" until I realized it was Kevin. I wasn't too surprised, because Joseph told me last night that he was working at Junior's. I had asked Joseph if he knew him since we were talking about one of the Asian clubs at school on the way to Publix, so I was all, "Do you know that black guy who is a member of all those asian clubs?" Of course, I only knew him as he was a fellow Chemical Engineer, but turns out Joseph did know him and mentioned he heard he was working at Junior's. Anyways, I didn't ask if he graduated yet, and if he, like me and Grant, just hasn't been able to pick up a chemical engineering job around here. I suppose I could move back up north and get something in NJ, or even move to Texas and get a job there. But I like this neck of the woods. And really, my job is neat. If it paid more and the schedules didn't sometimes suck, it would be a dream job. Internet access, cable TV, lots of college cuties, what more could you ask for?

That wasn't fun. Okay, actually it was. The only negative aspect was the gross dirt and dust stuck to the wires. But you know me. I guess that's another aspect of the job I forgot to put down that I like, getting to play with all the neat tools. And I really need to learn how to properly use a multi-meter. One day, I could be in for quite a shock! (literally, ha!)
