We had a big group for Trivia last night. In addition to the usual suspects of me, Krug, Bill, and Joseph, [livejournal.com profile] psyched_out finally came with the little woman, as well as Grant and forced-vacation Chris. We totally kicked ass and were once again on top of the food chain. I dunno if the questions were easier this time around or if it was due to more people. Actually, the bigger group had something to do with it, because there were Qs that Chris, Grant, and Scott (even Sato helped with her world-traveled self) were 100% sure of. Like the guess the song question.

(aside: ah, that cute, tall and tan JLH looking girl is back! But I digress.)

Its been quiet so far, hopefully it will stay that way. But there have been a few calls already. Its the 4th tomorrow, so most people prolly are out or are making it a lazy day, but its balanced by the lightning storm last night which always wreaks havoc on parts of the campus network.

idiot!

I had to open my big stupid mouth earlier. Sure enough, something was bound to happen. This is the most I've worked on a problem all quarter. Argh!

Argh!

This does not make sense!!! I'm ready to tear my hair out here! Why won't this work? Well, why will it work on some machines and not others? And DNS is right, everything is pointing where it should. For all intents and purposes, there is no problem. And if you ask a machine that didn't check before, that's true, everything is fine and dandy. Its just the ones that did it during that time period that are crazy. Even after everything one can think of was deleted and the machines were restarted, it still refuses to accept the truth! I bet there must be some stupid thing somewhere that needs to be deleted.

Prego!

Finally, success. I don't know if it was a time issue, or the lady didn't actually reboot her computer, but I rebooted mine and now the page will open. It had to be a problem with our computers or any computers that were querying during the time we were screwing around with our respective servers because it works for every other damn computer in the office. Owel, hopefully this problem is resolved now.

Speaking of problems, that thing I was curious about the other day, I was correct! I'm a regular freaking Sherlock Holmes! Okay, not really. I mean, it took me four days to get that Dr. Pepper joke from Mr. Deeds. I get it, like the soft drink! HA!

Ugh, in my rush to get this problem resolved, I ate my lunch real quick so I could get right back on working. Now I feel like total crap. Its prolly due to a mix of what I just said and lack of sleep last night.

Owel, in other news, thunderstorms suck. We got back from trivia in time for the second showing of that Bruce Lee special on AMC that [livejournal.com profile] psyched_out mentioned was going on last night. Wow, the original concept of the movie was way cooler than what they actually released. They showed the unreleased footage in its entirety last night, starting with the nunchaku fight with Dan Inosanto. Bruce Lee was actually going through the pagoda with two other dudes, but in the released movie, they cut those guys, as well as any dialogue out. The Kareem Abdul Jabar/Bruce Lee fight was basically the same, except this time has Bruce Lee breaking open the paper windows to let light in and blinding the light sensitive Kareem Abdul Jabar character. Also, Mr. Alcindor wasn't the last opponent because he was 7 feet tall, but because unlike the masters of the other levels, he wasn't limited to a particular "style". He wasn't like a kicking specialist or a grappling specialist or a weapons specialist. It was just gravy that he also happenned to be a huge-ass dude. Anyways, the fight ended the same way. Or so it seemed, but I'll never know since the stupid thunderstorm knocked out the power. Since I was watching it on buffer on PVR, the power loss cleared the buffer and I missed the last five minutes. So I have no idea if Kareem got up after Bruce Lee put him down and there was some more fighting, or if that was the end.

So [livejournal.com profile] ladygzb's hubby was saying he finally saw the buffy musical last night. Was this the first time since the original airing that they've shown it? No, I seem to recall them re-running it a week or two afterwards? Its shorter than the original airing since they had to fit it into an hour, right? So what was cut since I've never caught any of the replays?
