Saw Avengers: Endgame with the usual suspects. Now, it wasn't a perfect movie, there's a lot to nitpick if you're a nitpicker, but it is a really good culmination of 10 years of Marvel movies. There are tons of individual moments that more than make up for it though.

Heh, I'm not sure you have to see every Marvel movie before this one, but you'll definitely have a better appreciation if you have. Like obviously you'll have to have seen Infinity War, as only some kinda weirdo would see Endgame without first having seen that. But after that, I want to say the most critical to have seen were the Avengers, Winter Soldier, Dark World, Ragnarok, Dr Strange, Captain Marvel, GotG, and Antman and the Wasp.

But onto the spoilers! So yeah, there's a lot of contrivance here, big plot points resulting basically from deus ex machina- Scott only gets out of the quantum realm because a rat randomly steps on a button. Tony fails to get the tesseracts just because Hulk opens a door at the exact wrong time. The whole impetus for Thanos finding out the Avengers' plan is because present Nebula's computer systems for some reason try to network with her old self? Like why is she designed like that?

There's also some major plot holes- K was really pissed because they snap everyone back 5 years later. So this world just got used to living with half of everything wiped out, and then billions of living things just get shunted back? And even beyond the apocalyptic implications of that, there's the little things. Its been 5 freaking years. You're telling me there won't be like hundreds of people in awkward situations like, "Oh, my spouse died, but I have found solace in someone else! Whoops, now my spouse is back!"

Also, its 5 years later, shouldn't Peter's classmates all be in college now? Or will they all have conveniently been dusted together so they can continue to attend school together?

Then there's the time travel thing- they sort of get away with by saying that taking the past Infinity Stones will create new realities. So, nothing should affect their present since its a different timeline. And they're not dicks and be all, "Thanks for the stones, sorry we screwed up your reality!" so they do return them. But they do still make major impacts to those timelines- in the new post Battle of NY, Loki escaped with the Tesseract! Hydra thinks Steve is one of them, which should be kinda screwy for that timeline's Steve. The timeline they took the power stone from, Thanos and his massive army just disappear, which I guess is good for them.

Which, with all those changes made, couldn't Thor have warned his mom then? It wouldn't save his mom, but at least she'd be alive in a different reality? Or do they need to mostly preserve the timeline in those realities in order for it to play out the same way over there?

But yeah, I see a lot of people complaining about Steve's ending, because it does kinda throw a monkeywrench in what they've established. So, if he goes back and says fuck it, and just lives out his life with Peggy, he did it in that timeline. He shouldn't be appearing on a bench in the normal timeline, because he would not have "taken the long way around" as it were because he should be in another reality.

The alternative is he did manage to jump back when they recalled him (however the hell many years later by his perception) and managed to get to that bench without them seeing. In any case, I can see how that ending gets problematic.

Also problematic, they really had another lady have to get killed for the soul stone? So I guess we lose Nat, Tony, and Vision because they didn't die from the snap. Gamora doesn't count because I guess she's now replaced in this reality by her past self? And again, since its a different reality, Nebula killing her younger self doesn't end up erasing herself from the timeline.
