TV commentary:
CAOS- I enjoyed the back half of the season. Or is it the second season? To be fair the first or first half season was about finding its groove. But I think the new season/half season had a more cohesive plot.
I liked seeing Sabrina fighting Blackwood's misogynistic ideals. And even though it was Mandrake Sabrina, it was satisfying when he sent his Judas boys after her, thinking she'd be so easily dealt with, and her just taking them out without breaking a sweat.
And really good job with Nick. Like, yes, he's supposed to be the bad boy, and it turns out was secretly working for Lucifer. But he breaks the archetype by not being an actual dick. He doesn't secretly do horrible evil things when left to his own devices, only behaving when he's with her. He's caring, actually listens to Sabrina's ideas for change and is very receptive to them. He's willing to do anything for her, but always at her prompting- at no point does he do something secret she would disagree with for her sake.
But yeah, even secretly working for the dark lord wasn't entirely accurate. Its like when satan beckoned Sabrina to steal a pack of gum. All he told Nick to do was hang out with her, something he was going to do already.
And then he sacrifices himself in the end to stop the devil's plans. But Sabrina's resolved to save him. And things are looking up for the ladies. Sabrina has her powers back, and has fixed her friendships. Zelda has control of the Church of Night (which she and the family will prolly change for the better), now that Blackwood ran away with his tail between his legs. Lilith is Queen of Hell. And Prudence and Ambrose are going to hunt down her dad to get revenge on him and recover the twins.
CXG- Series finale! You know, with all the build up the last couple of weeks, I figured they were going to have her end up with someone. But she did indeed decide to choose herself, planning to share her songs with the world.
But as we saw, she could have good lives with any of the guys. ONCE she finds herself though. So who knows, after the finale, she may be with one of them.
And look at Paula, standing for her convictions, all ready to quit the cushy job if she couldn't still do the pro bono work at the women's prison. And it works out!
Oh, saw Shazam over the weekend. It had some flaws (particularly with its villains), but altogether an enjoyable movie. The Marvel family (heh, I guess they can't be called that) was a nice surprise, I wasn't expecting them to have them in the first movie.
