TV commentary:

12 monkeys- Final season! So Cassie's pretty pissed about what happened to her son. Angry enough to almost let Jones die but she saves her last minute. Though out of loyalty or because she realizes Jones is the only one who can help her get what she needs, not sure.

Anyways, the facility is under siege by Titan, and their only escape is a secret project Jones and the scientists had been working on, Project Charon. Basically, its their attempt to replicate Titan's ability to splinter a whole facility. Only they only have enough done to cover part of the facility. So of course, during the planning, they're told they need to be within the perimeter of those beams or else they'll be left behind.

Now, if you guessed that meant someone was going to be stuck outside, and if you guessed that person would be Deacon, you're right! Deacon had gone out to blow up the smokestack to make a distraction, and unfortunately wasn't fast enough. Cassie does try to reach him, but its too late. He begs them not to leave him, but there really is nothing she can do. So he feels all betrayed, but what the eff did he want Cassandra to do, there was a wall of energy that disintegrated anything crossing it in his way!

Anyways, this leads to him being recovered by Olivia, and he's all, they betrayed me one too many times! He has enough "loyalty" not to give up where they were going, but mainly its because he's so hurt he wants to be the one to hunt them down himself. Seriously?! Again, what did you want Cassie to do?! But maybe its a plan by him to buy himself some time and keep the baddies off their backs, who knows.

But yeah, I'm getting ahead of myself. In the escape attempt, Lasky and most of the other scientists are killed, Whitley is gravely wounded giving Jones time to fix the core, and Jones takes a lethal dose of radiation doing so. Not that anyone knows she did.

So they manage to splinter out, and without the baddies realizing it, because Olivia had decided to try and take them out by turning Titan's beam emitters against he facility. So she thought she disintegrated them.

Heh, they end up splintering to the Emerson. But they have no power. So Cole (and Hannah, who tries to secretly shadow him) heads back to the facility to try and sneak in and steal back their old core which was in storage. Only, he narrowly avoids bumping into himself and Ramse- the plan was just to move across space, not time. Turns out since this was on the fly, the machine must've defaulted to the date it first splintered, and sent them back then.

So, Cole, Cassie, and Jones sneak into the facility to sneak into to steal a module to splinter themselves somewhen. Cassie wants to go back and kill Olivia- turns out there was one point in time where Olivia was exposed, so Cass wants to use that window to take her out. Cole thinks that's just them turning their wheels- they keep thinking there's just one person they can kill to fix all this, but it never works. They keep finding out there's something else.

He wants to go back to Jennifer, because he found some drawings in the Emerson of an Ouroburos, which he remembers his dad telling him stories about when he was a kid. Jones says they should just try both. Anyways, their mission seems full of paradox and predestiny. I mean, to get enough time to try and sneak in and spinter, they fake a possibly outbreak warning to cause everyone to lock themselves in quarantine, which Jones and Cole don't remember happening the first time. They manage to send Cassie to 1971 to try and kill Olivia, but then the activation alerts the base, so everyone is freaked out looking for Scavengers.

Cole and Jones realize that they can walk around with impunity, because Whitley and Ramse are looking for Scavs, not them, who they have no reason to believe aren't their versions of Cole and Jones. So they use the opportunity to complete their mission, but not before having talks with them, Jones thanking Whitley for all he does for her, since she never says it, and Cole trying to make amends with his best friend, not that either know the significance of the conversation.

But yeah then things happen that seem like they always happened- Jones confronts her younger self, talking about how she lost her people's trust because she never trusted them enough to share. So they constantly hid stuff from her, because they had no idea what she would do to them if they found out those secrets. But apparently she also helps her younger self figure out tethers. She writes it down in her diary, then drugs herself up so she won't remember this meeting, chalking up the tether solution as the result of drunken inspiration. Also, there's a bit of foreshadowing here, with younger Jones telling her older self that there may have been mistakes, but sometimes those are the best teachers.

And, they steal a pod from the core, because they do remember some power fluctuations the day of his first splinter, so they realize they always went back to steal it. And they do!

In 1971, Cassie tries to snipe Olivia as she's being taken into a police station. Apparently she had run from her mother and when Mantis and her men tried show up to her hiding spot, she runs right into the cops, who pick her up for theft. Only, some people start shooting at her, so she has to engage them. And in the chaos, the cops here the gunfire and end up knocking her out and arresting her.

She comes face to face with young Olivia, and is all ready to strangle her. Only she realizes Olivia is preggers and feels guilty. Olivia is not sure what to do about it, and Cassie goes the "try to convince Olivia to change instead of killing her route" by saying she should just have her kid and raise it the way she wants, not to beholden to the Witness and the army of the 12 monkeys.

Which seems noble that she tries not to go the violence route. But it turns out to be a big mistake, though in all fairness, apparently she couldn't have done things any differently. So future Olivia remembers that conversation with Cassie, but it doesn't make sense to her. She wasn't saying things pre-season premiere Cassie would say (remember, at this point, she thinks she killed Cassie and the others). Its only after digging the rubble up and finding Deacon that she realizes they escaped.

So it was he who sent those men who attacked Cassie. Anyways, Mantis shows up at the station to claim her daughter, with Cassie not letting Mantis see her. And then the cops release Cassie, because they actually believe her cockamamie story about how she was just doing some target shooting (outside a police station?!) and warn her not to do it again.

Anyways, she goes to the mansion and shoots her way through it, when she finds out Olivia wasn't trying to escape the Witness stuff- Mantis was the one who lost faith, as Olivia had gotten a vision to get pregnant. So she snuck out to have a baby. And unfortunately, its the talk with Cassie that gave her confidence she was doing the right thing. Whoops!

So Olivia ends up using Titan somehow to possess her younger self- again, apparently this chain of events always happened because she remembers blacking out for a few minutes during this time, not realizing it was her future self possessing her. She actually gives Cassie a gun with one bullet, saying she'll try to shoot her, but she'll never succeed, as its destiny. This is how its always happened. And sure enough, Cassie shoots at her when Olivia taunts her about Athan. But Mantis jumps in the way.

Olivia lets Cassie go unharmed, because apparently she's vital to the plans to get to the red forest, and this whole adventure finally let her sees what she needs to do to fulfill her plan. So Cassie reunites with Cole, lamenting how he was right, its all a never ending circle. But he says yes, but he knows how to break the circle!

How? Well, in 2017 Jennifer steals this Ouroburos artifact. Which as we find out is meant for Cole, having passed down from generation to generation of a Primary bloodline, with Varys from Game of Thrones, who's an Interpol inspector as its secret guardian. The theft is hilarious, because we see this bad-ass version of Jennifer stealing the object, with another Jennifer in her ear. At first, i thought, are there two Jennifers working together?

Nope, turns out Jennifer is still crazy- her bad-ass persona is a figment of her imagination, one she imagines talking to. So the real theft is actually quite silly, and Jennifer only gets away because the last security guard is like fuck it, the world is dying from plague, he doesn't give a shit.

Heh, bad-ass Jennifer says she was wounded in the heist, even though 1) no one shot at her and 2) she's a figment of real Jen's imagination. But I guess that was her way of telling herself she didn't need that version of herself anymore and to go and take the artifact to Cole somehow.

Only, Varys corners her at a train station, knowing exactly who she is because she left her passport behind (even though bad-ass her told her not to forget it!) But luckily, she sees a clock and knows the exact time and takes a literal leap of faith in front of a train, hoping she'd be saved. And she is, by future Cole. Only she dropped the artifact, so its back in Varys' hands.

Future Cole tells her how to find the "present" him, and that they need the artifact to get him to where he is currently. She makes a remark about Cole's vest, but its done so obtusely, like were they implying its Athan's vest?

So she meets up with him, they contact Varys, who lets Cole have a crack at the puzzle since it was meant for him. And yeah, Cole solves it thanks to a story his father told him (in the flashback his father tells him it was written by his mother, but who's his mom?!) and its a a piece of cloth telling him a time and place, presumably to go.

Oh, speaking of mothers, we see Olivia had her baby, and left it by a tree. I'm guessing he grows up into someone we know?!
