Riverdale- Talk about a powder keg, thanks to Hiram being a manipulative a-hole. Things he does to set things off. 1) Brings in a new sheriff who is more or less his puppet, 2) gets Archie to reform the red circle (or "dark circle" as he calls it, 3) pays Reggie to take it over when Archie doesn't follow exactly what he wants.
So yeah, Moose tells the Circle he argued with Midge opening night over the fact that she was cheating on him with a Serpent. Which makes Reggie really angry for some reason, like, dude its not your girlfriend! Fangs fesses up to the Serpents that he was seeing Midge, and how that looks bad. Eventually it comes out, as Jug realizes he filmed Midge and Fangs together during the documentary and someone posted the footage online.
Even though people are acting like the Hood is back, for some reason they also think Fangs killed Midge? The Hood freaking shoots up the debate (though not killing anyone) and they still act like Fangs is Midge's killer- as Sierra Mccoy (whom Jug got to defend Fangs) says, the Sheriff's office is treating them as separate incidents. No doubt on Hiram's orders to stir things up.
Anyways, they still don't have enough to hold Fangs though, so they release him. FP even calls in Joaquim to take Fangs to San Junipero. Too bad Hiram riled Reggie up about the injustice of it all. (Again, he seems to be taking it way more personally than he should!) So he goes to shoot Fangs as he gets out. Only Archie sees the gun and tries to stop him. Actually, I was confused as to whether the gun went off when Archie tackled Reggie and happened to still hit Fangs. Or if someone else fired the shot, and with Archie and Reggie on the ground with a gun, everyone thinks one of them did it? In any case, it sparks a huge riot between the protestors on both sides.
While all this is going on, Betty is investigating her dad as being the Black Hood. She works with Cheryl (it cracks me up that Cheryl still refers to her as "Dear Cousin") to sleuth, and they find Hal's place where he was staying when he and Alice were separated. She find a Nancy Drew cipher book, which makes her think he is indeed the Black Hood, since he sent coded messages using that to Betty.
When she confronts her dad about it, he claims he remembered how much she loved that book and was going to give it to her for her birthday. (But doesn't she have that book already?!) Its seems pretty thin, though Hal wasn't he one shooting up the debate. Of course, given Hiram's shenanigans, it totally coulda been some assassin he hired to pretend to be the Hood to stir things up.
In any case, after the incident, she's still suspicious, particularly after she admits there's a darkness inside her to her parents, and Hal is all, "Oh, don't worry, me too!" So she calls her dad all, "Meet me at the place where this all started, where I gave my speech!" I guess as a test to see if he would know what she's talking about. As she waits though, the Black Hood goes after Cheryl.
Other stuff- after her little stunt with Nick, Ronnie's parents tell her she's being courted by the sons of the other families since they think she's hot shit now. She's disinterested in all of them but one, who's family runs casinos and want to bring one to Riverdale. He says the casinos are legit, and Veronica thinks she can make it work. Only Hiram is totally very dismissive of her ideas. And so she decides to leave home and throw her support behind Fred for mayor.
