TV commentary:
The Americans- Gee, I didn't know the Russians won WWII all by themselves! Seriously, Elizabeth really annoyed me with her text book rant. Gee, an AMERICAN text book focusing more on the American side of the war rather than talking about the suffering of the Russians or their contribution to the war effort? Its like don't talk all holier than though, because the way she puts it, she's biased the other way. Winning WWII was a group effort!
But man, did she rekindle things with Philip to butter him up to sleep with Kimmy?! Which, I can't believe she guilted him into doing that! And that's not even the worst part of it, he wanted them to get close, so he could join her on her vaycay to Greece, so she could get caught and thrown in a Bulgarian prison so Elizabeth could blackmail her father? How can she not see what a monster she's become?
I mean, she thinks its patriotism, but she has killed someone in every episode now! She killed a kid's parents and left them for him to find. Why? So his dad can't be put into "the American propaganda machine" and be put on the cover of Time to shit talk Russia? They think highly of themselves!
But sounds like Philip's had enough too. Particularly after sharing a beer with Stan, who came over to vent and be all sad about Gennadi and Sofia dying on his watch. I think Philip was pretty horrified that it was most likely Elizabeth who did the heinous act.
So yeah, after hearing how bold Paige has gotten, he goes to her apartment and kicks her ass. Well, more he starts to lecture her, and when she implies he's soft, he's all, "Oh yeah, come at me then!" and basically shows how much of a rookie she really is. Like she may be able to hold her own against drunk frat boy idiots, but against a trained professional like himself, she'll be eaten alive.
And then he basically cuts things off with Kimmy. Sure, it makes him look like a dick, like he took off after finally banging her, but he's okay with that if it gets her out of this. But man, he even tells her not to go to any communist countries. Her dad's a CIA big wig! If she decides that was a weird thing for Philip to say and ask her father about it, that's sure to be a big deal!
Oleg is about to be in big trouble too. The Centre knows its weird for him to be in America, even if its ostensibly to "study trains". Tatiana tries to coax some info out of him, and when he stays mum, she lays into him about how she felt he ruined her career. She was the one who told their superiors that he might be a traitor. He continues to deny though, even though we the audience knows its true.
And so, later, when her boss asks her if she finds out anything, she's like "Nyet!" but she's sure there's something. And so she tells him to tell their superiors he's definitely not one to be trusted, so they should lean on his dad.
Oh, and Stan says he could prolly get Renee a job in administration. Heh, will we ever find out if she's a secret spy or not?!
