TV commentary:

Runaways- Due to logistics, wasn't able to actually sit down and watch the third ep without being bothered until last night.

So we find out the Hernandezes die in a fire, and the Wilders definitely suspect Tina. Still have no idea what happened to her daughter though. Was it an accident? Was it Pride related? Whatever it was, it not only affected the kids, it caused Tina to close off, and her husband ended up having an affair with Janet Stein.

I figured that out, though I'm trying to remember if they made it explicit in the second ep, or one only picked it up if they matched up the timing of certain texts. This ep though, its very clear not only are they having an affair, Robert intends to leave Tina for Janet once the last sacrifice was made.

Which heh, boy is that a hilariously bad idea! Its like, at least Janet has some sense, since she totally deflects when he brings it up. I mean, seriously, has he met their spouses? I mean, Leslie is prolly the actual scariest, since she seems all nice but is also the head of a scientologesque cult. And the Wilders will definitely get shit done if you mess with them.

But Tina and Victor are wound up hard! They're pretty intense and he wants to betray both of them?!

They're still all mysterious about how this sacrifice thing works though. Is it for good fortune? Because things do seem to coming up for everyone after the sacrifice. But presumably things will start falling apart since they find out Destiny wasn't successfully sacrificed.

Heh, anyways, points for the kids for deflecting suspicion by pretending to be normal kids. Which should actually be their parents' main clue that something is up! Their kids are totally messed up and odd! I mean, Nico getting Alex to come over to help with the situation she got into for messing with the Staff of One, and then pretending to be in her room about to have sex when her mom comes home.

Like its clever because her mom would be so mad and focused on that that she might not realize someone tampered with the Staff of One. And it fits, because then she thinks that's why Nico was trying to get her parents out of the house, to have some alone time with Alex. Plus given the tension and rebellion coming from Nico, Tina thinks this is just more of the same.

But man, look at Molly being all clever too. Heh, its kinda annoying that she's trying to explain her burgeoning powers to Gert, who won't let her get in a word edge-wise. Its like dammit, let the girl tell her story, don't assume you know what's going on and trying to explain things!

Anyways, when Catherine confronts her about the hair clip, Molly is all, "Yes, the kids sent me to spy on you... to see if you guys were in the office so they could raid the liquor cabinet!" And then she plays up the fact that she's the kid, and channels the frustration of them not listening to her because of it to really sell the story.

Catherine believes it, though shouldn't the coffee shop be freaked out about the totally wrecked bathroom? Like Catherine realizes Molly snuck out, but shouldn't she wonder how? Or did she just assume Molly took off because she wasn't answering the bathroom door, and no one knows about the window being torn out of the wall yet?

Other oddities, Gert and Chase sneaking around their parents labs. Like Gert volunteered to be lookout since Chase was all freaked about his father knowing they were messing around, but then they take his x-ray goggles? And man, how are they going to explain Old Lace getting out?

Oh, and I saw an interview with Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage about them show, and them doing this isn't as random as I thought. Josh was a huge fan, and I totally forgot that he included Runaways references on the show.

Also, it sounds like the 1st season won't cover all of the first series? They were talking about how the original comic had a fast pace, because they didn't think they'd be around that long, so they rushed to tell the story. But here, I guess they're presuming they have a little more time, so they're pacing things out?
