Punisher- Finally finished this up. I'm glad Micro reunited with his family. If there is a second season, nothing better happen to them.
Hmm, I didn't know Madani finding out Frank shot the cop guy was a big deal. I guess there's no reason for her to think it was him, though the way she talked about being onto him in the beginning and how he conveniently died the same time as Schoonover, I thought she thought it was him. But I guess thinking about it now, the whole point of Frank's family getting killed was that they thought he was the one who filmed it, not Gunner. Which, did they ever say why they thought it was him in particular?
Anyway, all this intrigue and stuff, honestly, this could have easily been the plot to some non-Punisher military action thriller. Like it was an okay story, just not very Punisher-y.
I mean, you don't even have a Death Wish scenario, where the more bloodthirsty audience members could cheer as he kills some ridiculously awful people. I mean, the closest were those construction workers in the beginning. And even then, like I said, if they were fronting the way they were earlier when they tried to kill Frank, maybe you could cheer about the level of violence he responded with.
But honestly, all those Anvil guys, I guess they couldn't have been too good, given that first team was sent into the woods to murder someone, and the second set grabbed Sarah and Zach. But weren't they guys just doing a job? I mean, Billy hired that other set of guys for the mission where Stein got killed because it was too dirty for even his people.
Which speaking of, damn, how many DHS agents got killed in this series? Also its funny how one never bats an eye when its dudes who die, but it was kinda disturbing that several lady agents got killed.
Frank takes down Agent Orange and Billy, though its a level of violence that doesn't match the rest of the series. The Frank we had been seeing up to this point is like a cold terminator when he kills. Sure, they're on his list of people he feels are responsible for his family's deaths, but the level of overkill on Rawlins was weird. I mean, why even gouge Rawlins' eyes out?
Or for that matter, why in the world did Frank all of a sudden think, "Lemme horribly disfigure Billy?" It seems out of nowhere! I mean, he's a handsome guy, and there was some talk about him being vain and liking nice things. But not so much that Frank should decide to let him live all ugly and scarred. I mean, for god's sake, if it was just him, fine? But what about Karen and Micro and his family, and Madani and Curtis? He has people he cares about that it seems kinda unwise to keep someone as dangerous as Billy alive, who might get out and seek revenge!
The ending is a little confusing too. The government fixed things so no one thinks he had anything to do with Lewis' terrorist actions. And the messy war crime stuff they hang on Billy. But like they said, he's still a fugitive! How is he going to Curtis' support group? Won't those people be all, "Holy shit, that's Frank Castle!"?
