TV commentary:

NCIS- Heh, even though I called it a few minutes into the ep, I think this was a pretty good one. I mean, I guess Sportelli is a that guy, so of course there would be something to him. But I was already suspicious when he saw the vid that he knew more than he was saying. But as soon as Abby found the prints and he was all, "That's impossible, Michelle Lane is a dead woman!" I figured out immediately, okay, he's a crooked cop, and he just figured out she's alive!

As it turns out, he knew already, and was just trying to cover, but still. Also, how much time has passed between this ep and when Gibbs and Mcgee escaped captivity? Because Abby's comment could be incredibly insensitive if its only been a couple weeks. Her being all, "You didn't see the viral video from last month?!" I mean, if he was still being held prisoner, then no! But I think she's more sensitive than that, so it might've been a while.

Anyways, I liked the case. Lane didn't steal the bonds, she never did. She got knocked up, then the rival gang coincidentally firebombed that boat, making her think her cover was blown and that there was a leak, so she laid low. And then when she was declared dead, she took that opportunity to make a new life since the father was the son of the criminal she'd be investigated.

Said father actually learned she was alive, but left her alone because he also thought it would be a nice, fresh start for their son. Its just unfortunate that the way things played out, it did look like she had stolen the bonds and faked her death, causing Sportelli to come after her looking for an out since he blew his retirement money.

So, nice case, and the Ducky stuff was also interesting. Like, is Ducky leaving too? I mean, like they said, it would only be for a semester while he writes the definitive text on being a medical examiner. Which good sell by his old classmate! When he was all, "So, you're saying NCIS can get on without me?" she was all, "only because of the legacy you put in place!" I mean, usually they just say, "see, the world goes on, even without you there, you don't have to take it all on!" Saying it as, "You've trained them well so they can handle things now and you can go on to other things" is a nice touch, particularly since she could segue into, "And you can do that with so many others by writing that book!"

I don't think he's leaving-leaving though. Like Abby is apparently the most popular character in any TV show currently, but Ducky is a pretty big part of NCIS too. It would be weird if they made a big deal about her leaving but not him. I mean, David Mccallum is like in his 80s (maybe 90s now?), they're prolly just using this as an excuse so he doesn't have to work as much.
