TV commentary:

Star Trek Discovery- Wow, I was totally off on when this took place. Like for some reason I assumed it was in the 100 years between Enterprise and TOS/Reboot to avoid any continuity problems. But then they totally dated themselves by hinting that Michael is Spock's foster sister. I mean, Sarek was featured in the first eps, but Vulcans live long, he coulda been acquainted with her before the events of TOS. But nope, Michael also knows Amanda, so unless Sarek knew another human named Amanda with a son, that son has to be Spock.

But going back, Giorgiou totally mentions a date in her log in the first ep, and looking it up now, its like only two years before Kirk graduates the Academy.

But I digress, I see people are all egg-cited because Tilly could be on the spectrum and are already shipping her with Michael. Mark from Rent was kinda a dick at first, but at least they gave a reason for his assholishness beyond him being really smart. He was just doing his science thing, the war started, and all of a sudden, his research is being co-opted for possibly nefarious reasons and it was rushed, which possibly killed his friend (lover?).

And interesting, the Captain tells Michael, "Oh, I'm not an evil guy! You assumed I wanted you because you were a coldly logical mutineer who would so whatever it takes to win this war, rules be damned, but I just want you to help me advance space propulsion, not build me a superweapon!"Only after he convinces her to join, we see that he had Tory from BSG secretly capture that scary creature from the other ship. I mean, he is played by Lucius Malfoy, so I guess he has to be somewhat sinister.
