May. 22nd, 2017 08:58 pmTV commentary:
Supergirl- I call shenanigans! So Kara challenges Rhea to one on one combat, but as a backup plan, Lillian presents Lena with one of Lex's projects to rid the Earth of Kryptonians. It was meant to seed the atmosphere with trace amounts of Kryptonite to force Clark (and other Kryptonians) to leave. So Lena and Winn change it to instead release trace amounts of lead into the atmosphere to drive the Daxamites off instead.
Which I call BS that it only releases just enough lead to be lethal to the Daxamites but harmless to humans?! Ah'm skeptical, its freaking lead! People should be getting cancer or brain damage or whatever on that world now.
So yeah, Kara fights it out with Rhea, but it proves tough. For one, Rhea is dishonorable, and has her forces attack the city. But luckily Mon-El, Supes, MM, and M'gann (who shows up with some similarly minded "good" White Martians) manage to fight them back. Which speaking of, so the whole Clark fighting Supergirl was because he had charged into Rhea's flagship all half cocked trying to stop her, and got dosed with silver kryptonite. So he was seeing Kara as Zod, threatening to kill everyone he loves. But Kara actually manages to defeat Clark fair and square.
But I digress, the other problem Supergirl has that the destruction of Krypton suffused Daxam's atmosphere, and thus Rhea with Kryptonite. So as Kara makes Rhea bleed, Rhea bleeds kryptonite, weakening Kara. Kara still manages to have the upper hand. And so Rhea has her ship target every school, hospital, and other place full of innocents.
So she has no choice but to set off the "lead bomb" (Lena didn't trust her mother, so she made it so only Kara could activate it with a remote), even though that meant Mon El had to leave Earth, lest he die. So Rhea is poisoned to death, and her forces flee, but so does Mon El.
Other stuff, the craziness of the invasion, I guess causes Alex to propose to Maggie. We also learn that Cat really does know Kara is Supergirl all this time, which is good, because as I've said before, it seems like she should have figured it out. I mean, I guess she had, and they pulled MM shapeshifting in order for Cat to see them together in the same room, but I'm sure Cat figured out such trickery was going on.
Cliffhangers? Mon-El's ship gets drawn into some sort of weird wormhole. And we flashback to the day of Krypton's destruction, and see another group of people sending another Kryptonian baby off in an escape pod. They say this kid will grow strong on Earth, and conquer it.
Who is it? I guess I don't know enough about Superman lore, is it like H'el? (who I only know as he's a supervillain in the second version of the DC card game)
12 Monkeys- Oh, forgot to mention one big thing at the end of the season finale. We get a flashback to young, pre-apocalypse Cole being read a story by his dad. A piece of paper falls out of the book, one with some words hat were narrated earlier by... Athan? Jennifer? Olivia? In any case, the note was written by Cole's mother. Was she a primary? I guess we don't know anything about her.

Date: 2017-05-23 02:51 am (UTC)Also... fuck that ending. Rhea's lying there dying and says "save me," and Supergirl doesn't move a muscle. Then Superman is like "those actions you took that ended up getting someone killed? Good call! Excellent murder! Or at least manslaughter!"
