The Magicians- Well, that was a crazy ending! So the gang cooks up a plan to get Ember and Umber together in the same room. Margo and Josh get a plant from the Queen of the Fairies to bake into little cakes to serve at a party to Ember. Though she only sends them back after taking Margo's eye for payment. So now she's rocking a patch.
They manage to get him to show. Which brings us to the other part of the plan. Q sees Umber, who takes Quentin to "Cuba". Quentin riles Umber up, so that Umber pulls them out and attack Q in a rage. Only Julia snuck into Umber's house and stole Cuba. So she shows up in the throne room where Ember is and tosses it, so when Umber pulls them out, its there. This starts a fight between the two brothers, wherein Ember kills Umber. Julia uses the god-killing spell to enchant a blade, which she is unable to use when Ember starts to choke her. So she tosses it to Q, who kills Ember.
So, problem solved! With Ember and Umber dead, no need to worry about Fillory getting destroyed and destroying magic. Too bad this happened at the 40 minute mark, so you know something was going to happen. So, Kady's trying to make a deal with Harriet, she'll ply Penny for info so he'll be her unwitting mole in the Library. Too bad its all moot.
Quentin reveals to Alice (after they have make up sex) that he killed Ember, and she panics, because she knows killing gods have consequences. They have parents, who don't take too kindly on their children getting killed. So indeed, they send the Plumber(s?) to shut off all magic from the Wellspring.
So cut to two months later, Margo and Elliot are trapped in Fillory, dealing with a scared populace. And then Fen shows up, toeless, having come back to warn them that the Fae are coming to invade. Only, they show up then and there!
Back on Earth, magic is gone, so Brakebills is only teaching theory. The Niffin dude Alice sought out shows up to warn her. Apparently, she did a lot of stuff off screen when Q let her free. And she killed a bunch of people, who are now seeking revenge now that she's powerless. So now she's running from something called the Lamprey.
Other stuff- like I said, Kady's attempt a deal seems moot, since the Librarians were driven out of the Library when the Plumber shut down magic. Oh, and Julia went to law school in the interim, but quit, because it seems like she's starting to be able to cast again!
