Supergirl- Hmm, they're pronouncing it how its spelled, but for some reason it doesn't sound right. Though I think its mostly me misremembering the name. I mean, Mxyzpltk. I guess in my head I remember it ending in an "x" sound, but I suppose it could've been a k sound. But ha, I was wondering if they were going to due the whole backwards name thing.
Sure enough, when Kara pulled her blowing up the fortress of solitude gambit, she had him type in the disarm code, which ended up being his name backwards! And writing his name is apparently the same as saying it, so off he goes.
Kara does end up locking lips with Mon-El, and because they're straights, they get a longer, more racy kiss than Sanvers, even though its the more established relationship. There do seem to be a lot of people upset about "Karamel" though. I mean, the writing was on the wall. But as I've said before, the way these shows do these romances tends to get problematic.
Like they want to create drama by having the guy tells his feelings, the girl say no, and then he persists, trying to prove his love, until she eventually sees how much he cares and falls for him. The problem is that that can be read as telling guys that even if they girl says she's uninterested, to keep trying until she relents. Again, the show acts like Kara always liked him, but was hiding her feelings, and he just needs to break on through and get her to reveal them. Nevermind the fact she hated him in the beginning, for actually racist reasons (he's a Daxamite!) But by virtue of him being the handsome non-best friend white boy, she eventually develops feelings for him.
Whatever, at least Sanvers gets a small share of the Valentine's ep. Alex wants to celebrate Valentine's Day, because she finally has someone to celebrate it with. Problem is Maggie hates it, and with good reason. When she was a teen, she fell for her best friend. And she thought she felt that way to. So she gave her a Valentine's Day card asking her to the dance. Which her friend promptly showed her parents, who called Maggie's parents, outing her and getting her kicked out of the house. Maggie had lied to Alex about her parents being cool because she didn't want to scare Alex about coming out.
Maggie eventually relents, because Kara told her how much Alex needs this. So they have a "Valentine's Prom" together, just the two of them.
