Walking Dead- After meandering for several episodes, I think the half season at least ends on a decent note because we get some progress. Where to start? Let's go with the Kingdom. Ezekiel's man Richard begs Carol and Morgan to convince him to strike back at the Saviors. He has a point- things are cool now. But one day, they may accidentally offend the Saviors through no fault of their own, or the Saviors could just decide to say fuck it and decide they don't want to honor the deal anymore. He has a point (a point that becomes painfully clear later in the ep)

His problem is he sells it wrong. He wants Ezekiel to sneak attack the Saviors. He couldn't know its Rick leading an attack against the Saviors for the Hilltop is what kinda drove Morgan and Carol away in the first place. Carol just wants to be left alone, and Morgan thinks there's still hope for peace. I wonder if they'll change their minds once they hear about all that's happened since they left. But for now, their minds are set, and Richard is left to sneak off into a hidden cache and cry.

Heh, at the Hilltop, it looks like the people are really keen on Maggie, so much so that Enid says there's talk that Maggie should be the new leader. Which prolly does not sit well with Gregory. Heh, knowing Gregory from the comics, and the fact he's played by Xander Berkley, who's often played sniveling bad guys, Maggie prolly needs to watch her back.

But yeah, even though people are looking to Maggie for leadership, Sasha is keeping the fact that there's talk of striking back a secret from her. Because then Maggie will want to get involved and Sasha doesn't want her caught up in all this. Maggie's preggers for goodness sake! If there's to be any handling of Negan and the Saviors, Sasha will do it herself, without endangering Maggs.

Michonne, meanwhile, gets that lady she captured to take her to the Sanctuary. She does, but stops a ways out, where Michonne can get a full view of the size of the Saviors. This gives Michonne pause, but interestingly enough, the lady tells Michonne to kill her and ditch the truck. I guess that chick was just tired of it all?

Speaking of the Sanctuary. Daryl escapes, killing Fat Joe along the way. Fat Joe was all ready to let Daryl escape, but Daryl has no mercy for the Saviors, even if they're just "trying to get by". I guess it turns out it was Jesus who was helping Daryl? Daryl gets his motorcycle back, and heh, conveniently Joe was carrying Rick's revovler, which Daryl returns to Rick when they meet up later.

Rick and Aaron manage to get the supplies from the boat. There's a taunting note in there though- "Even though you win, you still lose!" as there's guns in the boat, but no ammo. So Rick and Aaron return just in time to run into the chaos going on at Alexandria right now. And here's where Richard's earlier point comes to play. As Negan's men search through the supplies that were just brought in, they find the note, and think Aaron is trying to be funny. And so they kick the shit out of him. Which is just the first of many reasons that finally wake Rick up out of his funk.

So, Spencer, that worm, tries to sidle up to Negan and have himself installed as leader of Alexandria. Heh, I was amused there was some random tattoo-ed blond amongst Negan's group who started hitting on Spencer (and he flirted back in order to ingratiate himself to the Saviors) and Eugene just started looking over and the blond starts getting pissed at his staring because its salting her game.

Meanwhile, Rosita has her bullet and is looking for her chance to assassinate Negan. Father Gabriel tries to counsel her, saying she'd be throwing her life away, and she tells him she just wants to do something useful. She's upset because she feels she's a useless nobody, she thinks she should've died on the road. Abraham and Glenn were amongst the most capable of them. But they're lost and she gets to live. And Maggie is without a husband, her kid without a father.

Anyways, Spencer tries to butter Negan up. Unfortunately, he learns too late that that's the wrong tack to take with Negan. Negan is pissed off by such two faced cowardice- if Spencer wanted Rick ousted, Negan says he should've just killed Rick and taken it himself. So Negan disembowels him.

Rosita is horrified, and she takes her shot... only for Negan to block it with Lucille. Needless to say, he's pissed. And he notices the bullet is a reload. He tells Rosita to say who made the bullet, and she tries to claimshe did it on her own. And so Olivia gets executed for her lie. (Which I know they want Negan to be an asshole, but his constant fat shaming is just unnecessary. Its just mean!)

Rick happens upon the scene, and tries to reason with Negan. Negan says Rick should be thanking him- Carl snuck into his compound and gunned down some of his men, but Negan didn't hurt him, just brought Carl back safe and sound and fed him spaghetti. Spencer tried to stage a coup, and Negan took care of him. So in Negan's mind, he's been more than reasonable. He's about to get his men to shoot Aaron or his bf if Rosita doesn't fess up, so finally Eugene speaks up, and is taken by the Saviors.

Michonne returns later and explains to Rick she found the compound, but realizes she shouldn't walk this path alone. Freeing themselves of the Saviors' yolk needs to be something they do together. Heh, turns out she was preaching to the choir at this point. Granted, Rick didn't hear the speech at the kingdom, but its just as Richard said. Rick is just trying to keep his head down, in the hopes that he can just keep the Saviors happy enough they won't do anything.

But as he saw, there are so many things out of control. Like, its one thing for his people to be upset and do stupid things to strike at Negan like Carl and Rosita did. But look at what happened with Aaron. They freaking accidentally left the note amongst the stuff and unintentionally pissed Negan's men off.

So Rick finally realizes kneeling won't work. The Saviors will just keep on taking and taking until they're all dead. And so he, Michonne, Carl, Tara, and Rosita go to the Hilltop, where Jesus and Daryl haven also gotten to. And the ep ends with them prolly planning to make an alliance to take on the Saviors.
