Oct. 11th, 2016 09:38 amSo playing ME3 yesterday, I've decided, yeah, switching out the high velocity barrel for the thermal scope vs Cerberus to avoid the frustration of smoke grenades is pointless. I tried it for the Javik mission, and while the scope helped a little, it was also one big tease where I could see enemies behind boxes and walls and not be able to take them out because I don't have enough penetration. Meanwhile, the HV barrel is a huge boon- on Grissom Academy, I somehow two-shot an Atlas, while on Sur'Kesh, I was able to 1 shot 2 guardians and a centurion with full shields standing in a row. That's worth way more than "seeing through" smoke. I mean, all smoke means is my squad will take out guys before I do.
Which given the black widow X with the HV barrel's cool down is only +96%, I haven't been carrying anything else so as to not lower that even more. Of course, weight actually isn't too big a deal for infiltrators, as long as you remember to cloak before doing things- since if you use a power during cloak, your cool down is based on tactical cloak's, not the power you used. And since cloak's cool down is lessened if you break cloak early, relative to how long you were cloaked, cloaking and then firing off a power resets your cooldowns pretty quick.
But I digress, my point is, carrying only the black widow, I only have 30+3 shots, so I can't be wasteful. And I'm finding because my gun does so much damage, I'm hesitant to waste the bullet to finish off a trooper who's like at a quarter health. That's what Garrus and/or Javik's particle beams and/or Vega's incendiary rounds from the typhoon are for!
TV commentary:
Supergirl- As I said before, weird! Derek from Teen Wolf looks totally different clean shaven. And apparently the person in the pod that crashed last season is Kai from Vampire Diaries? But getting back to Clark, on the one hand, actually having Superman means not having to make silly ass excuses why we never see him up close. On the other, the show is Supergirl, and it does overshadow her a little having him on.
But wait, is Toyman Jr quitting CatCo and working for the DEO full time?
Timeless- Ah, so far this show seems to be about eliminating famous phrases from history! The first ep, "Oh, the humanity!" is no longer a thing, now in this one, since Booth wasn't the one who shot Lincoln, neither is "Sic Semper Tyrannis!"
The annoying thing about this ep was when Lucy was trying to warn the dudes the dangers of mucking with history, and they're skeptical, but she fails to give a convincing reason. Gee, its not like HER SISTER WAS JUST UNCREATED! She should have brought that up to shut them down- they have no idea the far reaching effects of the changes that happen. They could be uncreated, or some loved one could be gone, or some disaster might occur.
But we find out why Lucy's sister is gone- so the man she thought was her father wasn't. That guy married some descendant of one of the Hindenberg survivors. I guess in this new reality her mom is with her actual father. Or perhaps was? There's something going on with her family.
