Westworld- Intriguing show so far. Interesting that they flipped the Man in Black character. Instead of being an out of control robot, he's a veteran guest who views the other "tourists" with disdain. He seems to think there's a "deeper game" to it all, and is busy doing his own thing and torturing hosts to get the info he wants.
So it looks like one of the safety protocols is that the guns can only hurt hosts but not guests. Which would be fine if guns are the only way to kill someone. So like James Marsden's character Teddy seems like he would do his damndest to try and stop the Man in Black from hurting Dolores. I wanna say that's part of the programming, I would think a guest would prefer the hosts to give an "authentic" reaction. But like what if Teddy got a hold of the Man in Black's knife? Is there programming to stop the hosts from taking lethal action with a real weapon. (Also, apparently Marsden and EVR being star-crossed is indeed a reference to him not getting the girl in his movies)
Also, it seems like the guns will only work properly if aimed at a robot, but if its aimed at a human, its non-lethal. (Or so I'm told) But what if there's a stray shot? Like I guess a robot shouldn't miss, or account for the vectors of everyone around to make sure they don't walk into a bullet's path. But what if a human aimed at a robot and missed?
But ha, I liked how the one guy who writes the dialogue was all excited for Paolo/Xerxes big speech, and some rando loser guest offs him in the middle of his massacre. That chick member of his gang, Armistice is kinda cute and really bad-ass though!
Anyways, I do find it weird that if there's a glitchy robot, they just decommission them and store them? Like they're a sophisticated humanoid robot! If they're afraid of them glitching, why not just destroy them?! Leaving them in storage sounds like the quickest way to get a robot revolution!!
