TV commentary:
Person of Interest- Hmm, interesting. So apparently the Machine had co-opted previous characters with useful skills to help irrelevants this whole time? I mean, we knew it was doing stuff with Harper, but back then it seemed to act like a real person pointing her to jobs she might find profitable in her line of work. But yeah, she seems to be fully aware of the machine now.
I mean, I guess it makes sense, there are irrelevants all over the world, not just NYC. So of course the machine would need a bigger, more global team to save people. So on the one hand, I'm sure Team Machine can take solace in the fact that if they die, but the Machine is still around, the innocents are still being protected. On the other, it can also be taken that they're not irreplaceable.
Actually, that's not the right word, because the Machine does care about them, she would do her damnedest to save them if they were in trouble. But being a part of something bigger now, their loss doesn't mean game over, its not all on them. In a way, there's less pressure, but conversely since its not all on them, that's a minuscule amount less motivation because someone can take up the slack.
But I digress, Harper was always a given. Amy Acker's husband seems out of nowhere, but they may have just picked him because he would be easy to get. And Liam Mcpoyle makes sense given who he is and his connections and wealth. But heh, we still haven't heard one peep of the Root's three hacker dudes. Did they die? They were specifically shielded from Samaritan so they could do something, but we've heard nary a peep from them since then.
Like its weird that Harold had to steal a computer virus (more on that later), like it seems if they were going to attack Samaritan in that way, that would be something those hacker dudes would be working on. Anyways, if they were going to have past numbers be part of Team Machine, I was hoping they'd have like Chinese gymnast/art thief lady, or Katheryn Winnick's bounty hunter character. I guess those are the only two that stand out. I mean, Elias obviously, but he died. There's also Travis from PLL/Finn from Bones- I guess he did help at the end of last season. But yeah, he seems like he would be like Liam Mcpoyle, but more specialized in computer stuff, so you'd think he'd be prime for recruitment.
Anyways, onto Finch stealing that virus, that seems like a terrible method to try and defeat Samaritan. Like the Machine said, it would prolly destroy vital infrastructure and cause thousands of deaths, just for a chance to at best cripple Samaritan, not destroy it. And that just seems like an awful deal. Its like carpet bombing a city to kill one guy who you don't even know where exactly they are- there would be a lot of collateral damage, and you might kill or at least seriously maim the guy, but they could also managed to be just fine!
Freaking Samaritan has been installing its code on damn near everything. A virus could hit a lot of it, but at this point Samaritan seems too spread out into everything for such an attack to be effective!
