TV commentary:
Scream- Hmm, I'm definitely interested to know what Audrey's deal is. Like, I don't think she works as a protagonist if she helped Piper with the mayhem last season. I can't/don't believe she did though. I'm not sure who initiated communication, but in either case, I'm thinking Audrey was just venting. Like, she was all, "Let's kill all these fuckers!" but not like seriously. It was just venting without any intention to harm. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's my guess as to the extent of her involvement.
Although some holes in my theory are the fact that it seemed like she was talking to Piper using that name. So when the killings happened, she had to know it was Piper. Like if maybe she was venting to Emma's half sister using a different name, I could believe maybe she didn't know. But at the same time, if she knew someone she had talked to about murder had possibly started to actually murder the people they were talking about, surely, she would have said something!
Ida know, I guess it could be like it is now, she was so scared that someone would find out after the first couple of murders that she didn't say anything. Still fucked up, because a bunch of people died who possibly didn't need to if she said something. But I guess that is slightly less bad than if she actually murdered anybody. Actually, I guess she was the one who shot Piper, so she has killed someone, but that might've been self defense with only a tinge of hiding her involvement.
Interesting though, so in the aftermath of the murders, Emma had to go away for a few months after understandably suffering a mental breakdown at school. Noah took over Piper's podcast (Because apparently he wasn't creepy enough) Jake and Brooke secretly started dating, Audrey got famous for being the one who took out Piper. As for Kieran, who cares, he's boring.
So we start the ep with a big fake out, where a killer kills some new girl Haley, and goes after Audrey. Audrey stabs the killer, and we find out Haley and the "killer" were trying to prank her. I guess they wanted to show she wasn't as bad-ass as people were saying, only to be proven wrong when Audrey defends herself. Heh, the new sheriff isn't too bad, as he immediately shuts down Haley's demand that Audrey be arrested for stabbing her friend. As he said, Audrey was the traumatized survivor of a mass murderer, and they're the idiots who went after her seeming like they were trying to kill her. Audrey acted accordingly! And since those morons were wearing body cams to try and expose Audrey as not so tough as the stories say, Audrey could use that footage for a civil suit.
So in addition to those two new characters, we get a few more- the new overly excited psych teacher, a nerdy black girl (whom being a WoC whom Noah likes, might not be great for her chances of survival), and the sheriff's son who's trying to give Noah a run for his money for most creepiest. We see him drawing a bloody drawing of Emma. But between that and him having a discussion with Noah over the merits of Horror comics and Horror movies (well, and the fact that his bio in the press release is "aspiring comic book artist") I'm guessing he just wants to to use their story to make a comic.
Heh, on the one hand, he is as creepy and mysterious as last season's sheriff's son, Kieran was. On the other since Kieran was normal and innocent, maybe this time the sheriff's son will be a baddie.
Anyways, enough set up. The main plot points to take from this ep are: Brooke and Jake break up because he's kinda a doosh (okay, her father hates him, and part of him wonders if she's just dating him to get back at daddy. Which she's not, so she's rightfully pissed at the accusation). He shouts he has a plan to make her dad like him again, so he sneaks off somewhere to do something sneaky at an old farm. But, he gets captured by this season's killer. Given that he actually survived for a full half hour instead of immediately biting it, I figured he'd survive. But nope, Jake is most assuredly dead now.
Speaking of said farm, Emma, who had been having nightmares of a mysterious barn, sees it in Noah's murder board, and immediately asks him about it. Apparently it was owned by Brandon's half brother. (Which, oh, I forgot to mention, suspicious fact about the new sheriff, he's apparently from Lakewood, left for a while, and is only coming back now. Since we had a bunch of fake outs as to who the brother was last season without ever finding out, its possible it could be him?) She goes to check it out with Brooke. They do not find Jake's corpse, but Emma, who despite surviving a psycho killer, still ventures into dark, scary abandoned houses by herself. She finds some pictures of possibly young her and the barn, but we end with a mysterious figure coming at her.
Finally, the jokers may have been instigated by a friend of Piper's, someone who's taunting Audrey saying they know she knew Piper. They threaten to expose her. Heh, also, Noah, being concerned for his friend, thinks she should go to the cops and/or they figure out who the person is themselves. Which Audrey's not too thrilled about because it might expose her secret.
