TV commentary:
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt- The new season came out over the weekend, so binge watched that. Its as hilarious and absurd as ever.
Supergirl- An okay finale, if a bit anti-climactic. Hopefully this will get renewed- I think its ratings are pretty good compared to some of their other shows. But then again this is also the same channel that thought, "Hey, lets try a Criminal Minds spin-off, again, even though our last attempt failed miserably!" I mean, how many crime procedurals can this channel have!? This is also the same channel that decided to put a crappy looking TV version of Rush Hour before bringing back PoI. I think if it didn't get renewed, people would be up in arms over such a crazy decision.
Heh, so the whole mind control thing is taken care of pretty quick, thanks to some rousing speeches, first by Eliza Danvers to snap her daughter out of it (NGL, I was worried she was only faking for a second and was going to run her mom through, but that would be kinda dark for this show), then by Supergirl to free everyone else. Well, everyone except Superman for some reason, who is conveniently in a coma so he can't help fight Non and Indigo.
So with everyone free, it seems like everything is back to normal. And no one got hurt! Except for what's her face, who's desk everyone looks at sadly. It was kinda hilarious when Jimmy and Wynn were talking about it all, not even Superman could've save all three, so we're so glad you saved us instead of Miss Random over there.
But of course, everything wasn't over. Since the plan to control the humans failed, Non and Indigo crank Myriad up to 11 to basically fry everyone on Earth's brains, and then leave to fly off to conquer other planets. So Supergirl is determined to stop them (heh, they waste so much time trying to find where the bad guys are, but they were just hanging in Fort Ras, which the government knew the location of the whole time, and since they couldn't transport it somewhere safe where they could cover it up, they just closed off the area, not realizing the bad guys moved back in!), even though its supposedly a suicide mission?
I mean, she tells everyone goodbye, and eventually they (well, some of them) realize she thinks she's going to die. They try to dissuade her, but obviously she has no choice otherwise everyone else (well, other than MM and Supes) will die. J'onnz won't let he go alone though, so they fight it out with Non and Indigo, with MM ripping Indigo in half (Dammnnn!!!) and Supergirl and Non having a heat-vision contest, which Supergirl wins of course, possibly blinding Non/frying his brain?
But, Myriad is still going on, so Supergirl is resolved to take Fort Ras into space, even though Alex warns her she won't be able to get back down and be stuck up there because of physics. Like wait, in this universe, do Kryptonians not know how to fly through space? So it seems like Kara is going to die to save the world, but at the last second Alex rescues her in the ship she came to Earth on.
So the bad guys are defeated, the Earth is saved, and no one got hurt. Except poor miss random girl. MM is reinstated to head of the DEO, and Lucy is all sad, but J'onnz is all, things are better when we all work together, so he suggests they be co-heads. Heh, which I'm surprised no one is weirded out by the fact that most of his command staff are young, attractive women, like they're not thinking, "This damn martian, taking all our women!"
Speaking of, it did crack me up when Vasquez referred to them as "Ma'ams". I mean, its correct, but I guess I've never heard it used plurally. Of course, maybe that's because you don't see as many women in power, much less multiple women, compared to men, so its just new.
Anyways, they do have to have a cliffhanger though. Even though it seemed like Lucy's dad took MM's speech about working together to heart, he's having secret meetings with Maxwell Lord, looking over the Kryptonian power source that had been powering Myriad. And then a spaceship similar to Kara's crashes. Kara and MM check it out, only we'll have to wait until next season to find out what they see.
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend- Argh! So Paula and Rebecca have a fight, because Paula is just as crazy as Rebecca, and did some things without her knowledge to help her in her quest to get Josh. Which again, kinda creepy that she's so invested in Rebecca and Josh together. Surprisingly, its Daryl who gets them back together by telling Paula friends don't tell friends who they should fall in love with.
Anyways, Greg is a g-d idiot, and tanks his relationship with Rebecca out of insecurity. He thinks he has to be cool and aloof, and when Rebecca tries to tell him she loves him, he's too drunk to respond appropriately. And it ends up being too late!
Josh and Valencia have their final big fight, where Valencia is actually the one who says they were having issues even before Rebecca- they've been together for 15 years and he still hasn't committed. So their dunzo! Which drives Josh into Rebecca's arms.
And they get together as Lea Salonga sings in the background. But then in the end she tells Josh she moved to West Covina for him, and while she's talking all happily to him about them being together, Josh has this upset look on his face. Whoops! And we'll have to wait until next season to see how that plays out.
