TVD- Some Rayna backstory. Which, she looks a little like Elena, but I don't think enough for Damon to be all, "You look like my girlfriend and her dopplegangers". Like its one of those things where you can kinda see it, but not enough that you'd definitely think it. But hey, the actress is cute. And part Filipino, which elevates her hotness in my book. So, turns out Rayna was the daughter of a hunter. Julian bested him, but then Rayna foolishly tries to save his life by telling him about the whole Hunter's curse thing- if he kills her dad, he'll got nuts and die. So, he compels her to kill her dad instead.
Needless to say, she's pissed, so she gets some Native American tribe to cast some sort of spell that gives her the power she has today. They kill themselves in the process, so its kinda hilarious that they're all, "Avenge your father... and us!" Its like dude, no one killed you guys, you killed yourselves! And its not like they sacrificed themselves to avert an apocalypse. I mean, I guess vampires are a bane on the world, but its not like they HAD to kill themselves. There are other Hunters, the world moves on whether they kill more vamps or not. Its just a silly line.
Anyways, she hunts down Julian, giving Beau his trademark scar and destroying his voice (and heh, he really did have a good singing voice). Turns out Lily and the others fled on that fateful boat trip because Rayna was hunting them.
In the present, Enzo blackmails Damon into getting the phoenix sword by threatening to tell Bonnie about Elena. But aw, he doesn't resort to trickery or violence to get it from Bonnie, he just asks, and begs her not to press on what Enzo has on him. For her part, she lets Damon have it.
They meet Enzo, only to find him tied up. Rayna shoots Bonnie in the stomach with an arrow, so Damon tosses the sword out the window to get her to leave so he can heal Bonnie. Unfortunately, that means she has the sword now. She uses it to find and kill Beau (she sets his body on fire so they can't restore his soul to it) and hunts the others down.
Oh wait, I skipped a part. The heretics were all at the hospital helping Caroline give birth. When the doctor tried to perform a C-Section, the babies used magic to fight back because they want to stay where they can continue to feed on Caroline until she dies. So Valerie managed to get the rest of the Heretics to do a spell to I guess satiate the twins until the doctor could get them out of her. But, when Rayna got her sword, Beau's wound opened up, so they had to flee, lest they lead Rayna to the hospital.
Noralise try to flee with Beau, and like I said, Rayna finds him and kills him. They manage to get away, but now she's at the hospital looking to kill whatever vamps she sees. Bamon catch up at this point, and Damon, still suicidal over Elena's death and his brother seemingly writing him off forever, takes her on alone. Bonnie begs Stefan to help, and Valerie says she can continue to watch over Caroline, his brother needs him.
So just before Rayna is able to finish off Damon, Stefan saves him, getting wounded by the sword in the process. Now he's marked, so he's forced to run away to protect the others, but especially Caroline (since he had a bunch of flashes of her when he got stabbed and he realized he had to flee for her safety). Caroline gives birth and its not like we didn't know everything was going to be fine since things are okay for her and the kids in the future.
But anyways, Enzo tells Damon Elena's alive, which I'm skeptical about. He says he and Tyler were working together, and they showed Damon an empty coffin. Which, how the hell would they know he would see a vision of Elena? The ruse only works if they knew exactly how the Phoenix Stone was affecting him? I mean, that does kinda explain why Tyler had immediately tried to shoot him with a crossbow? Like possibly he was going to jump Damon right as he opened the coffin and saw it empty, but since Damon was crazy at the time, he actually did see Elena, so Tyler was incredibly confused?
So Damon's fine again, and he tells Stefan Elena lives, and that he'll do everything in his power to fix things so Stefan can return home.
In the future, we see Caroline heading to NOLA with the twins to see an old friend. Presumably Klaus.
