Agent Carter- Lots of thoughts on the first two eps of the new season. Seriously, how gay is Dottie for Peggy? I was pretty surprised that she would show up so soon in the new season.
Also, I guess I remember that Jarvis had to do some things to get his future wife out of Europe, but I guess it never clicked to me that she would be some sort of Eastern European (the closed-captioning for when she first speaks says "in Hungarian accent", so I guess she's Hungarian).
Weird, I thought I had seen cast photos for the new season, I didn't know Sarah Bolger was in this. I guess she plays Sousa's new about to be fiancee, so already there's an angsty love triangle. Or square, since Peggy seems to like this Wilkes guy.
Which, I'm presuming since Whitney survived the lab explosion, somehow he did too? I mean, there were complaints last season that there wasn't enough colored representation, so I figured that's why they had a prominent new black character, but it would be messed up if he got killed off so soon.
They do touch upon the racism of the time, which is weird because I think there was some stuff that happened that didn't take that into account. Like the bakery- the show just had the guy acting all racist about a black guy and white girl together. But then when they were out by the phone, Jason and Peggy pull the old "pretend to be lovers" thing just in case it was someone looking for them. Which would be fine if it wasn't the 40s. I would think if someone looked over and saw it was a mixed race couple, there's a decent chance a person of that time would flip their shit. All I'm saying it might not be the right tactic if they're trying to go unnoticed.
But yikes, I get that Sousa was worried about Peggy, and as far as he knows Wilkes is the only lead. Had they not gone to the lab, that could've been incredibly problematic for Jason, since Sousa sent the entirety of the LAPD after him. Which given this time period, might not turn out too well for him since it was presumed he had a pretty white lady hostage.
