Degrassi- Ha, that was one of the most weirdly random plot lines in the history of the show. Zoe thinking her real father is the guy who played Christopher on Gilmore Girls?! And the actor actually showed up playing himself. Is he like friends with one of the writers or producers or something, because the line where he's all, "Now that Gilmore Girls is streaming on Netflix, its sparked a whole new generation of fangirls" was kinda ridiculous.
But yeah, Zoe finally kisses Grace, which should be a good thing, but since I know how things turn out, it just makes me mad.
The whole Hunter storyline has been kinda awkward, because its weird to see them sitting at some computers in the gym and seeing like students in the bleachers watching them. I get that esports is a thing, but I'm skeptical that's how it would be implemented in a school.
Plus, the whole thing was kinda messy- Goldi had a point about the team making misogynistic comments, and its unfortunate that games often hyper-sexualize women, but I disagree with her whole rant that it encourages violence against women. I mean, you can argue that it promotes violence, but I don't think it singles out women as targets. Sure, the female characters in the fake game are running around practically naked, but at least they aren't portrayed as inherently weaker than the male characters, or have the players have a preference for male characters because they don't want to play a "girl" or have them purposely gang up on any female characters they see.
Its just unfortunate that the main defender is a raging psychopath like Hunter. I think he made a fair point that his team is looked down upon and picked on because its not "traditional" and the feminist club isn't protesting cheerleading and football. And truthfully, I think triggering is thrown around way too much nowadays. But saying her hijab was triggering was not cool.
Also, he at least tried to make some concessions, but I think Goldi was being unfair. Like the most ridiculous thing was "why don't you guys play Wii bowling!" Because that's not the sport! They're in a league sport, they can't not play the game the league is about! And that was a stupid counter-argument to Hunter saying guys are just better than girls at games! So he's arguing about guys get more practice because they just play it more, he doesn't know why. Well, because misogyny, duh! If a girl doesn't get discouraged not to play by peers and parents who declare it "unfeminine", the ones that do face being looked down upon and treated as second class citizens by the male players. So the deck is stacked against them.
When Goldi complained about their team having only one girl, and the other teams having none, first off, he can't do anything about the other team, and shouldn't be penalized for the current environment of the sport. Like how do you expect the sport to have more diversity and get better if you basically take out the one team that does have a girl? Hunter was dumb for just saying guys are just better, when Goldi brought that stuff up, he should've said he'd welcome any girl who wanted to play if they showed they were good enough, just like any sport.
Its not his fault if no other girls wanted to play. So what really pisses me off about the Wii bowling comment is because its playing to the misogyny! Like why couldn't she argue, "Okay, I'll hold you to that!" and have girls try out and show they can play as opposed to her arguing they change the game to something easier!
