Vampire Diaries- Some surprising connections in the past. So, back before the brothers were vamps, Lily had fallen in with a vampire named Julian (hmm, is he her sire? I think they would've mentioned that, they make it sound more like she's some vamp he met). He wanted to take her away to Europe, because it seems he was secretly trying to flee something. But Lily wouldn't go unless she knew her sons were fine.

So, she sent Valerie to check on Stefan, and Oscar to check on Damon. Oscar and Damon only met briefly at some random bar. Damon was lamenting being in the war, fighting for the South since he didn't actually believe in their goals and found things like slavery reprehensible. He only joined up to please his dad. Lucky for him, Oscar convinced him to follow his heart and do what he wanted to do, not his father. So he deserted, and if he hadn't, he would've died along with his unit at Gettysburg.

As we found out last week, Valerie and Stefan met back in MF, and it was love at first sight. Julian had accompanied her, and was not pleased at this turn of events. Even then Lily was obsessed with keeping her new family together, and if Val and Stefan became a thing, she'd want to stay, making it more difficult for him to convince Lily to go to Europe.

Anyways, Val was Stefan's first, and he ends up knocking her up! Not that either of them knew that. Val tries to sneak off back to MF to be with Stefan, but Julian happens upon her. He discovers her pregnancy since he could hear two heartbeats in her, and informs her that she is with child. Before beating her half to death until she miscarried.

So, Stefan thinks she dumped him, and Valerie wakes up on a boat to Europe, having been healed by Lily. Obviously, she was pretty upset with what happened, and not wanting to be torn away from the life she wanted and forced into another, she kills herself. I guess she didn't realize dying with vamp blood in you turns you. And so, she became the first heretic.

In the present, we hear this previous tale via conversations between Lily/Stefan and Caroline/Valerie. Lily and Stefan have a decent time together, and so she rewards him by letting Caroline go. Too bad she still cursed with skin that burns vampires. Turns out Valerie still probably holds a torch for Stefan, even secretly going to their old spot while cloaked to see him and apologize, even though he can't see or hear her. Of course, he may have some lingering feelings too if he's revisiting their old spot.

As Caroline says, Valerie was his first, and he remembers exactly when he first saw her. She knows Stefan wouldn't be able to say that about her. Stefan tries to reassure her, but its moot anyways since they can't touch.

Meanwhile, Damon finds out where Oscar is and seeks him out (and finds out about them meeting back during the Civil War). He takes Bonnie and Alaric with him. Bonnie, who had another horrible vision and passed out, asks Alaric if he destroyed the stone and he claims he did. Too bad when Damon strikes a deal with Oscar (who's basically been shirking his duties and ignoring the mission Lily sent him on to go on a hedonistic binge) to siphon away Bonnie's painful visions, he recognizes them from the phoenix stone, and that she wouldn't still be having the visions if it was destroyed.

He manages to take them all down and abscond with the stone. Bonnie's pretty pissed that they lied to her about the stone being around. Well, technically only Alaric lied. Damon didn't want to break the bro code, so he just kept mum. They eventually catch up to Oscar and capture him and take him to Whitmore, and Damon calls his mom up to trade him for Elena.

Too bad Val did a locator spell to find him and travels to Whitmore. She learns he did find out where Julian was for Lily, but months ago, and has been keeping quiet so he can live the high life a little longer before he's back under Lily's thumb. But, Valeries can't have Lily and Julian reuniting, and she knows a guy like Oscar will eventually trade Julian's location for his freedom, so she kills him. I'm sure that won't cause more trouble between Damon and his mom since she's unlikely to believe Oscar just died in his custody.

Oh, and this week's flash forward, we see Stefan calling Tyler, trying to get him to talk to Caroline and warn her since she's not taking his calls. Also, he pours gas all over his car and some stuff, but does grab his diary off the pile of things to burn before he sets the blaze.

The Originals- Heh, I forgot since Lucian, Tristan, and Aurora were the first, they were treading new ground at the time. I'm trying to remember back to TVD when one of the Mikaelsons was telling the story of the were first turned and they were talking about the hunger and their weaknesses if they knew they could compel people back then. Because it seems to me the troubles they started having at Tristan and Aurora's place would be easily solved with a good dose of compulsion. Like they were worried about Tristan revealing them, but I kept wondering, why don't they compel him, and the only thing I can think of is they didn't know they could back then?

But I digress. So, turns out Lucian had a crush on Aurora. They were closer when they were kids, until their difference in stations made it improper for them to associate with each other. Lucian wanted Klaus to give her a note, like what is this, fifth grade? Too bad Klaus was already seeing her, so he lies and tells him she wouldn't take the note. Unfortunately, Lucian would not be dissuaded and goes to see her- and catches her and Klaus. Even worse, one of her handmaidens saw Lucian going to see Aurora and reports him to her brother, who catches him with Aurora, Klaus having fled and Lucian to distraught to do the same.

Lucian ends up getting tortured, his mouth sliced just like the serial killer victims in NOLA. Klaus goes to try and help him after, but Lucian is too angry, and tries stabbing Klaus. In the fracas, he ends up consuming some of Klaus' blood, healing him. Which, I was wondering why Klaus was all shocked, but as I said, since Lucian was the first, they didn't know how all that stuff worked yet. But heh, Lucian, thinking he's now like Klaus, charges Tristan in the halls, and is easily dispatched by the guards. Klaus tries to feed him more blood to see if that would fix him, but it was too late. Klaus and Elijah are sad and try to give him a proper funeral, with Klaus telling him about the blood and how he tried to feed Lucian more. Elijah thinks maybe Klaus imagined it, only for Lucian wake up.

Of course, the first thing he does is go on a killing spree, finally feeling like a cloud has lifted and is free. And we find out that in his newborn years, he influenced Klaus as much as Klaus influenced him, so even though Klaus is like his dad, Lucian did push Klaus into being darker.

In the present, Will takes Lucian down to the station to question him, and Cami and Vincent go there to try and get answers. Well that, and the fact that Will has no idea about vamps or how to handle them, so she wants them to be on hand to try and protect him. Indeed, he compels Will to let him talk to Cami, and he tells Cami and Vincent his tale, hoping to get allies by saying they are all people who've been drawn into the Mikaelson family drama and screwed over because of it.

But his tale fails to have the required effect. He does continue trying to profess his innocence. While it does seem like something he would do, the act a recreation of his torture at the hands of Tristan, the victims a representation of him- rich, entitled assholes who flaunt their wealth. But he claims he's there to protect Klaus and thus himself, and such public murders would only hurt his cause. Eventually, there is another murder, so they let Lucian go.

Meanwhile, some chick named Aya shows up at Marcel's wanting a meeting. She wipes the floor with everyone there and drags him to the meeting place. Elijah shows up after seeing the vision's Lucian's witch friend had for himself, and saw Marcel and Cami in them, so he went to see him. Josh comes to at that point, and informs Elijah that Marcel was grabbed by Aya. Who as it turns out, is another one of Elijah's childer.

Indeed, she's working with Tristan, and at some point Elijah's sire line formed a group called the Strix who've been doing behind the scenes manipulation and chaos throughout the centuries. So Elijah goes to the meet, and asks to speak with Tristan alone. So, he sends the rest of the Strix away, and Elijah also sends Marcel away, which apparently pisses him off that he might be thinking of hooking up with these Strix folks.

But onto the convo with Tristan. Tristan claims its Lucian who's trying to kill Elijah and thus get rid of Tristan and he can't be trusted. Apparently the vision was also saying there's still a weapon out there that can kill the Originals, and neither he nor his sister have it, so it must be Lucian.

Elijah keeps that in mind, and calls off Klaus from killing Lucian (since Klaus thought the visions were pointing to Lucian being the one to try and kill them) until they have more answers. Klaus is happy that he and his brother are working together again during this crisis. He tries to tell Elijah that the whole one will be brought down by family isn't him, even though Elijah said he's betrayed them countless times in the past and hurt them. But Klaus promises Elijah that he would not have to worry about Klaus trying to kill him, but Elijah blows off this declaration, making Klaus all sad. Which, isn't that the sort of behavior that makes Klaus all angry and likely to betray them?

It is curious what this whole war between the sire lines is about, especially with these guys telling their sires the other is trying to kill one of them to finish their line off. Are they really at war? Is this all a ruse and Tristan and Julian are colluding? I guess we'll find out eventually.

Other stuff- Jackson takes Hayley out to blow off some steam at Marcel's fighting gym since she's on edge. Being scared that Davina will blow the candle out at any moment, and she might turn back in front of Hope and accidentally kill her will do that to someone. Also, since she's a hybrid while Jackson and the others are mere wolves, she feels he doesn't get the hunger she goes through.

Also, looks like Aurora is still freaking nuts and has slaughtered the monastery, leaving a vm for her brother saying she's heading for NOLA.
