Finding Carter- Kids sure are sullen on this show. So Gabe's still being self destructive, even quitting the track team because he didn't like the coach being on his case. Taylor's worried, so she sends Max to hang out with him. They have a good time, until he finds out Max was sent there by Taylor, and so he's all pissed at what he feels was a "fake" night of hanging out. I wonder if Max is picking out that Gabe is into Taylor, given how he was all, "Man, all these chicks I've been seeing are awful! You're lucky Max, you found the perfect girl!"
Its funny, because when this show first started, Taylor was the one with the unrequited crush on Gabe, and then she got all jealous because Gabe was into Carter when she showed up. But then Max came along, and Taylor became "Gabe who?" and now its Gabe's turn to be the one with the unrequited crush.
Also angry and sullen? Ben. Turns out Lori only showed up at the bar because she was worried about Ben. So Carter follows him since he's been ducking her (Taylor explains they're in constant conflict because they're too similar) and ends up in a shady neighborhood. She sees him arguing with some sketchy guy, trying to give him money, and also getting into a fight with that one girl from Major Crimes and Supernatural. He eventually spots Carter (though it took him longer than it should, like he did not hear the huge traffic accident she almost caused while she was chasing his cab?!) and finally takes Taylor up on her family dinner request just to see what Carter is going to do.
Dinner seems to go fine, but everything falls apart after. For one, Grant sees Ben stealing David's watch, unfortunately, he did not see Ben have second thoughts (though to be fair nor did the audience) and put it back. So Grant tells Carter, who accuses Ben (though not in front of the rest of the family, at least), and he's indignant. She tells David after Ben leaves, but David is all, "You mean this watch?"
David thinks maybe Grant is confused and maybe jealous, though to be fair, Ben definitely seemed to mean to steal it, otherwise why put it in his pocket? Also, Grant is talking about how he's special since he's the only kid who is actually David and Elizabeth's. Though I'm a little worried about the pause when David responded, like they better not pull some bull where all the kids are halfsies.
But yeah, not helping things was Elizabeth secretly going to Ben asking if he wants to stay with them. Which I am still unsure as to her motives. Like, once Carter got Liz to know Crash, she was extremely helpful with him, and I think she does care about Ben's life and safety. Lori is a crazy kidnapper person, so its not surprising she wouldn't trust her. But at the same time, maybe there's a sliver of truth in Ben's accusations that she's using him as a pawn in some competition between her and Lori. Maybe he's wrong, though it still is insane of Elizabeth to be trying to get Ben. She knows Lori is a freaking nutcase, but has seemed relatively stable recently. Is she really wanting to rock the boat by having a custody fight over another kid?!
And uh-oh, looks like bar guy might be starting to develop a thing for Carter, not knowing she's JB?
