TV commentary:

Degrassi- Series finale! That's kinda crazy, but the show was on its 15th season. Also, for some reason I didn't think Becky was a senior, I coulda sworn Drew and the rest of them were older than her. So let's get the quick storylines out of the way first. So I think Miles is kinda hurt that his brother hates him and thinks he's an asshole. He tries to make it up by secretly trying to help him with his obvious crush on Arlene. Only he goes about it the wrong way. The Hollingsworth kids have Zoe, Winston, and Arlene over for a pool party, though Hunter's not participating in the pool activities, just hanging on his computer. Miles tries to engineer Hunter to play chicken fight with Arlene as his partner. Hunter unfortunately thinks his brother is bullying him and Miles pushes him in the pool to force him to participate, which Arlene laughs at, but Hunter totally blows out of proportion that she's laughing at him and making him hate his brother more.

Anyways, they later have a kendo fight, where Hunter reveals he misses dad because despite their father's treatment of Frankie and Miles, Hunter wasn't as mistreated. Though I think that's more because since he was always aloof, he didn't interact with his father enough to see that he can be kinda an asshole. And amusingly enough, when Miles would rib on his brother, it was their dad who broke it up. So to Hunter, their dad being kicked out is tantamount to no longer having protection from his brother's bullying. With that all out in the open, the brothers resolve to have a better relationship.

So with the prom debacle (more on that later), Imogen is upset because she broke up with Jack because she couldn't do things with her so publicly. And if there ended up being no prom, their breakup was for nothing. And when prom gets fixed, Becky convinces her best friend to declare her love for Jack and bring her to the new prom. At first I was all, wait, is she going to try and out her in front of her parents, but thankfully they do have Imogen check if Jack's parents are there, and she only did what she did after finding out they weren't.

Alas, prom ends up highlighting how much Jack and her don't have in common, since Jack thinks proms are lame and dumb and just wanted to hang out in the corner, and Imogen compromises herself to stick with Jack, missing doing cool prom stuff with her friends. So, right before graduation, Imogen tells Becky they broke up again, and declares how great a friend Becky's been, all, who knew she'd be best friends with the uptight Christian girl (heh, I guess Becky still doesn't know Adam got into his accident because he was feeling all guilty about Imogen kissing him) while Becky is all, who knew she'd befriend the quirky lesbian. Which, that kinda annoyed me because its like Bi-erasure. I mean, this also happened with Jack, but it was weird they declared Imogen a lesbian, when she used to be clearly bi or pan. I mean, she used to like Eli, a boy, and Adam, who was trans.

Claire doesn't know what to do with her life, since the whole cancer and baby thing did kinda derail her big plans. Eli was all, "Move back to NY with me!" but Claire doesn't want to be the girl who just follows a boy around. So he's totally hurt. Didn't they have this argument already when he graduated? In any case, after a talk with a visiting Simpson, she finally feels comfortable with announcing to the student body that she's taking a year off, and Eli becomes more understanding and says he'll wait.

Finally, the finale really was about Drew. So, because of the whole Claire awkwardness, Alli tells Dallas to tell Drew to find his own prom plans. Which, I get Claire has been through a lot, but so has Drew, and that's kinda assy. After Drew begs him not to do this, Dallas tries to get Alli to reconsider. They think it will be less awkward if Drew has a date, and convince him to ask out Becky now that she's broken up with Jonah. He makes a big grand gesture before one of their finals, but she turns him down. And his stunt delayed the final. So Miss Pill punishes him by not allowing him to got to prom.

Drew tries to get Dallas to sneak him into prom, but Dallas doesn't want to risk getting in trouble and ruining Alli's prom. So the boys get into a fight. And prom is ruined anyways because Dallas booked the boat for the wrong year. Dallas tries to get Drew to help, despite screwing him over, and Drew tells him to fuck off, laughing at what he feels is karma. But then Mama Torres slaps him in the back of the head for being an asshole, so Drew agrees to help.

He steals some decorations from school, and sets up prom at the dot so the dance is saved. However, Miss Pill knows it was him who broke into school to steal stuff, and since she can't have such shenanigans undermining her authority, she won't let Drew walk for graduation. Aw, when Drew tells his mom sorry she didn't get to see one of her sons graduate on stage during the tribute to Adam, she tells him its fine, him being punished for the prom thing was BS anyways (what happened to the version of her that would kick up a fuss over stuff like this?!). She's incredibly proud of him.

In the end, after everyone has walked, we see the gang has "We love Drew" written on their hats and they display the message when it comes time for the hat tossing. For some reason, this convinces Miss Pill to let Drew walk on stage. So that's the end!

But ha, since it is, they finally have couples that end up together as far as we know. There are no new eps where the show can arbitrarily break them up, unless they break up during the movie on Sunday (actually, would that be the true finale?) Winston and Frankie are back to being a couple, Jenna and Connor are going to colleges in California together, even though Alli's going to be in Cambridge and Dallas in Japan, they claim they're going to do the long distance thing and make it work. Even Eli and Claire are presumed to be end game. So again, unless something happens in the movie, there won't be any bullshit break ups!

Heh, so apparently they had a special where they talked with previous cast members, which I didn't see. But they did intersperse interviews with the cast during the commercial breaks these past few weeks. Some people I totally forgot existed. And it was weird to hear them refer to Drake as "Aubrey". But heh, they couldn't get anecdotes from him, or Nina Dobrev, or even Shenae Grimes? I guess they would be considred the most "successful" Degrassi alum, in that order? Though obviously there are big gapes between those three? After that, I don't know if it would be maybe Cassie Steele or Stacey Farber since they actually had shows after this, whereas everyone else who still did stuff were mostly guest stars?
