TV commentary:

Defiance- Some interesting stuff this ep. So the Tarrs are finally back in Defiance. They cook up a story about how they ran into Rahm Tak's army, and how they barely escaped with their lives, and poor Alak and his son were lost in the fracas. Oh, and Rahm Tak butchered the Mccawleys. Nolan is angry, so he goes on what's supposed to be a recon mission, but its obvious he intends to get some revenge. Irisa, despite her new found aversion to killing joins him. She thinks she's been hiding it, but Nolan's noticed, and is not sure she's a good partner anymore.

They run into Pilar, who tries to pass herself as a random, with a halvsie baby she found in her travels. But Nolan and Irisa aren't stupid. They recognize her boots as Rafe's, and recognize Alak's baby. So they do the old give her a fake gun trick and subdue her when she tries to turn on them. They tie her up, and since they can't just leave the baby there, they take the baby with them. On a recon mission!

Rahm Tak knows from the Tarrs that someone sent to scout them, so he quizzes Alak and finds out the Lawkeeper is Nolan. Apparently Nolan has a reputation from the war of massacring a bunch of Votans and earning the name the "Butcher of Yosemite". So Tak is actually a little freaked out about it, since he was there and witnessed his killing capacity first hand.

Nolan and Irisa get to the camp and see they have a vehicle that can cut through shields, so Nolan says they need to destroy it. He wants to sneak down there with grenades, with Irisa covering him with the sniper rifle, which, thankfully Irisa shoots down that idea, because he woulda been toast with Irisa's no-kill policy.

Irisa makes it pretty far until Pilar gets loose and sneaks up on Nolan, causing him to accidentally fire a shot and alerting the camp. Nolan manages to fight her off, and she somehow gets the idea in her head that Nolan won't kill her. He seems to shoot her in the chest/throat, but we don't actually get confirmation she's dead.

In any case, Rahm holds Irisa hostage and taunts Nolan, all, "I am the Butcher of... what's this place again?" Tulsa! But Nolan just snipes his men and Irisa breaks free, unfortunately, she has Rahm dead to rights and doesn't take the kill. She and Nolan manage to destroy the shield cutter, and they head back to return the baby to the Tarrs. After, Nolan chastises his daughter for not killing Rahm, making no bones about telling her anything Tak does from here on out is her fault. What a dick!

Back in Defiance during all this, Stahma meets T'evgin and starts working her wiles on him, all she studied their culture and always thought his kind was keen and all that. She offers to teach him the ways of this new world, if you know what she means.

Meanwhile, Berlin catches Datak taking a bunch of guns out of the car he and Stahma rolled in in, wanting to sell them to make money to re-establish his criminal empire. She says since the guns were stolen from the E-Rep, it technically belongs with the town. Datak refuses to give them up so she arrests him. Amanda lets him stew in jail for a while, revealing she had hoped he and his wife died slow painful deaths for what they did to her sister. But she thinks she needs him. She makes him swear allegiance to the town, to convince his former associates to fight for the town. But she's keeping the guns.

Turns out, it was all a ruse by Datak. He wanted the guns confiscated, because it had some crazy bugs in them that I guess can eat metal/plastic whatever the hell the future guns are made of. So, when its put in the armory, all their weapons are destroyed. Wonder if Amanda and Nolan will figure out if that was willful sabotage by Datak, or believe him when he inevitably claims he had no idea.

In any case, Rahm's next mission for his spies is to blow up the Arch. Which, the Tarrs seem to have reservation against, though I'm not sure if its because its a big job, or they have enough loyalty to the town that they don't want to destroy such a major symbol.

Dark Matter- So what do you know? They help the miners! The boys end up stranded planet side when Two takes off on the ship. So they have a last stand where a bunch of miners get killed, but eventually Two comes back. Turns out, she made a deal with a rival company for the miners. The planet is under that other company's protection now.

How does that help the miners? Because remember, what the other company wanted to mine was in the asteroid belt, they just wanted the planet to build a base. That one company still owns the mining rights to the asteroid belt. But its useless without a nearby base. And while the planet is actually kinda worthless without the mining rights, the miners' saviors are fine just getting to screw over a rival company out of a big contract. But, now, if the original company wants to make a deal with the other company for the planet, the miners get 20%.

In the end, Five reveals to Two that she had one of her weird memories of someone else thing again. And she knows one of the crew purposely put in a program to erase their memories, because they're too dangerous.
