Justified- Some pretty wild developments this ep. But first, what's with Boone calling Loretta his girl? Isn't she a little young for him? Also, when he menaces the hipster and college girl, he says Loretta's legal. Which, was there a time jump or something? I mean, the actress did just turn 18, but when the character was first introduced, way back in season 2, I assumed she wasn't even a teenager yet. And its the 6th season now, so that's only 4 years later, which would put her at like 16 or something, unless its been more than 4 years. I guess maybe she has to be over 18, otherwise, how can she be making these big plans about people selling to her and all that jazz?
In any case, this ep is wheels within wheels. So the Marshalls get Duffy to convince Boyd Markham's moving the money, as well as convince Markham to actually move the money so they can catch Boyd with his hand in the cookie jar. Raylan also sows the seeds of dischord, telling him he has a fox in the henhouse and Katherine is not on his side- that the reason Boyd will know how to hit the money will be because Katherine will be all, "Oh, you're moving the money, where to?" And sure enough, she does.
Anyways, despite this, Boyd's no fool, he realizes its a trap, and actually sends his henchman as decays to actually try and hit the truck. But heh, Raylan realizes Boyd's no fool and knows Boyd knows its a trap, even though everyone else is all, "This was your plan! And he has his henchman watching the truck and getting ready to hit it!" But Raylan can feel it in his gut, and its confirmed when Ava says Boyd's not hitting the truck. She doesn't know what he plans to do instead, just that he told her to get the fake IDs they just got from Limehouse for all the reward money they got for helping take down Ty. Too bad she's persona non-grata to the ADA, so they're not going to not change their plans on her claims. It could just be a ruse to help Boyd.
Rachel's a diplomat though, and has Tim stay with the trap, while Raylan watches Ava. Oh, and before he does, the ADA tells Raylan Ava hasn't actually lived up to her end of the bargain, so she's still going to jail at the end of this. Raylan, instead of secretly watching Ava, actually goes and tells her this while Boyd's gone.
Which, I realize he cares for Ava, but that was a monumentally stupid thing to do, to tell her she's basically screwed, even if she does help them. She begs and pleads, saying what if they could take Boyd down for Dewey's murder- she found Dewey's necklace hanging on the wall in the bar when Boyd was negotiating with Limehouse. But Raylan says that's not proof enough, so she's all, what if she gets a confession out of him when she meets with Boyd later. So, Raylan lets her run with it.
And where is Boyd? Kidnapping Katherine to trade for the money. So Markham does, and either as an eff you, or to give Katherine something to keep her busy instead of hunting Boyd down for his betrayal, he reveals to Markham that Katherine was the one who hired Boyd to rob and kill him because she thought Markham killed her husband.
Heh, its kinda hilarious, because after Boyd runs off all pumped at being victorious, they're standing there all, "Hmm, what do we do now after this development?"
So, Boyd meets up with Ava, who shoots him and goes to run off by herself with the fake IDs and all the money. Raylan attempts to stop her, but she's all, is he really going to draw on her. But heh, for all his talk, he's not willing to just shoot her like he is other folks to stop her. And so she flees.
Other stuff. Markham goes to see the last of Loretta's kin, her great aunt, who realizes Markham's just calling on her to either convince her grand niece to sell, or to sell herself if Loretta comes to an unfortunate accident and all her land goes to the aunt. The aunt tells him to eff off, so he has Boone kill the aunt.
Also, Mikey, disgusted at his boss being a rat knocks Duffy's ass out and ties him up, intending to turn him over to Katherine as the real rat. But, as we saw, she was too busy getting kidnapped by Boyd to answer his call.
