Justified- That was a wild episode! First things first- Art figured out who the mole was. Duffy! So, Raylan and Art immediately head over to Wynn's, and strongarm him into being their second mole, lest everyone find out he was the one who ratted out Katherine's husband.
Secondly, looks like the PMCs are all dead- Seabass comes to Katherine and Markham looking for some going away money, but Katherine shoots him through her purse. Markham has a new guy though, Boon, played by the Black Donnellys guy, who fancies himself a real old west cowboy. He menaces Loretta with a dead snake in her kitchen. Well, he leaves a dead snake in her kitchen, with its head shot off, I guess to show off his gunfighting prowess.
So, she goes to Boyd and makes a deal- she wants to pay him for protection, and to get the land he made all those other people promise not to sell. I guess she doesn't realize Boyd's trying to hit Markham and take his money and run. Which is why Boyd doesn't want anything for the rights to purchase that land. As long as she promises them to give them all a fair price and do good by Harlan, they're good. And I guess while Boyd might be fleeing once he gets the money, his associates may be able to stay, and he promises to have them watch her back.
And so we cut to a party Markham's throwing at the Pizza Palace, to speechify about Harlan landowners selling to him. Sam Elliot is doing his affable Texan best, but Boyd counters, asking if he'll screw them over like he did the poor, honest folk in Colorado. Markham is all, who should they trust in, Boyd, a thug who has terrorized them.
Now, here's where things take turns I don't think certain people were expecting- Loretta pipes up, saying they should put their trust in her. She'll do the same thing as Markham, 'cept she won't make people leave their land, she just wants to put seed down on it. Together, they'll make a profit. Of course, she also announces her partner is Boyd Crowder, in case Markham thinks she's all by herself, a notion I don't think Boyd was expecting to be announced so publicly so soon.
Needless to say, Markham is pissed, and tells Boon to find out who her kin is, so they know where the land goes when she inevitably dies. Raylan's pissed because he knows Loretta just put herself in Markham's crosshairs. One things for sure, Loretta always had massive balls. If she survives all this, she's sure to be a force to be reckoned with for years to come in Harlan.
Anyways, Raylan had Duffy slip info to Boyd, that Markham was moving the money out after the party, so he should hit it now. Heh, Boyd figures out pretty quickly that Wynn's been turned, but he doesn't really care currently, because he doesn't know Raylan has figured out Ava's compromised. So Raylan just sits there and waits, waiting to catch Boyd with his hand in the cookie jar.
Too bad Zacariah effs it all up for everyone. He subdues Boyd down in the mines and ties him to a pillar, hoping to blow him up in the blast in revenge for all the Crowders have done. Boyd manages to get out, but he doesn't get the money. And the Marshalls are pissed, because they have nothing to get Boyd on. But, I don't think they realized Boyd got backstabbed, they thought he just effed up his heist.
In any case, Rachel's shitting bricks because they've already invested a lot of time and money into this case, and not being able to catch Boyd here is really bad. But Raylan tells her to relax, because he knows Boyd is still going to hit the money, this time when the move it, and they have to be prepared.
Meanwhile, at Boyd's bar, Boyd confronts Ava, thinking she had something to do with Zacariah's murder attempt. Again, its funny because its yet another monkeywrench thrown into the works this ep that has all sorts of crazy consequences. Now Boyd is starting to get paranoid of his fiancee. After all, she was informing on him, and he didn't kill her. Might she have change tacks? But Ava was prolly totally clueless on anything her crazy uncle was planning!
