TV commentary:

Glee- Ah, the Glee youtube channel finally updated so I can do my gleecap!

So, Sue, still crush on that one superintendent guy, volunteers to host his nephew's Bar Mitzvah and ropes the Glee club into helping her by performing. Heh, I did get a kick out of when Rachel tells the club about this new project, Kitty makes a crack about whether an alumnus is about to show up to "help", because the last few eps have been exactly like that.

The nephew, Myron, is pretty talented, singing Destiny's Child's "Lose My Breath" and wanting them to give him notes on how to do a better performance:

Kid can sing. Though it seemed some viewers felt him doing this number was ccv('Inappropriate!') The club has no criticism to give, other than to say maybe the dancers could smile more. This causes Myron to fire his backup dancers and co-opt the Gleeks into being his new backup performers, much to their chagrin.

Anyways, this was kinda a newbie centric episode, so newbie plot 1 involved Spencer and Roderick. Roderick, being fat and out of shape, has Sue riding him because everyone needs to pass the Presidential fitness test, and he's having trouble climbing the gym rope. Spencer is reluctant to help him until he sees that Roderick is partnered with the "cute" boy he's crushing on, Alistair in science lab. (I use parentheses because he doesn't seem that cute at all. But, I'm not gay, so maybe he men find him attractive) He's crushing so bad, he sings Friday I'm in Love in the halls and in the choir room:

But yeah, Spencer will try to help Roderick pass the physical requirements if he'll put in a good word with Alistair. However, Spencer gives up on Roderick quickly, saying he can't be helped, though I think he was trying to do the tough love thing to try and motivate him. Roderick says he's been out of shape his whole life, Spencer making fun of him isn't going to make him do better.

Eventually, Spencer takes a different tack. During the Bar Mitzvah, Myron gets stuck in a pod suspended above the stage and they can't pull him down because the rope came off the pulley. So, this time, Spencer encourages Roderick to climb up there and has the rest of the club follow suit in cheering him on. And so, he's able to climb up and free Myron. So, Rod puts in a good word for Spencer, and he's able to ask Alistair out. And convince him to join Glee club. Interesting, I wasn't expecting him becoming one of the Gleeks.

Newbie plot 2 involved Mason trying to get with Jane and Madison constantly cock blocking him. Apparently Maddie's the older on, and since their parents are never around, she's always been mothering him. So she's not used to him trying to spend time with someone else. Eventually, he tells her off, saying to stop being so controlling, so she snaps at him. He performs Queen classic "I Want to Break Free":

You know, when he first showed up, I didn't realize he was kinda going to be like Blaine 2.0. The singing styles are quite similar. Not that that's a bad thing. Madison hears this, and is a little upset at first, but then realizes she's being a little bratty, and confesses to Mason she was worried that he would think he doesn't need her anymore. Which, given their parents are hardly around, and they are a little weird, I can see them only having each other, so if Mase wasn't around, she wouldn't have anybody. Mason tells her not to worry, even if he wants to spend time with Jane, that doesn't mean he doesn't need Madison anymore. And so, they make up.

Anyhoo, apparently when Myron was stuck in the pod, he soiled himself, so the Glee club has to stall. Spencer, Roderick and Jane perform a really good rendition of "Uptown Funk":

I liked it. Then again, I do think a lot of the songs they do that are originally meant for one singer, they do a good job of arranging them to work with multiple singers. (Like "What Doesn't Kill You" back in season 3) I think the "Don't Believe Me Just Watch" x3 at the end of the bridge works better when its done by three different singers, it sounds less repetitive that way. Heh, if I do have one criticism about that performance, it was when the random kids came on stage and started dancing. Like, who are these random professional dancers just jumping on stage on a whim and pulling off some crazy moves without rehearsal?

Anyways, the final performance of the Bar Mitzvah is Arianda Grande/Zedd's "Break Free":

Is it me, or do some parts of this, Rachel sounds kinda like Ariana?

Anyways, after all this, the Superintendent arranges things so Myron gets transferred to Mckinley to join ND. He and Kitty become fast friends. Sue is upset though, because now with the Superintendent vested in this, it will make it much harder to crush ND. So yeah, with Alistair and Myron, they're up to 8 members.

In the end, the new 8 strong ND showcase what they can do in the choir room with Echosmith's "Cool Kids":

So, we have Jane/Mason, Roderick/Madison, Kitty/Myron, and Spencer/Alistair.
