Feb. 19th, 2015 07:13 pmSo at Target today, the TV section was showing a clip from Conan where he's interviewing Key and Peele, acting like they invented "Nooice!" That can't be right tho. I mean, it seems like a word people used before that skit.
TV commentary:
Suits- Wow, this show really doesn't like anyone being happy. So Mike and Harvey think they won their big whistlebower case. Too bad Six has footage of Donna illegal obtaining the evidence they used to get one over and them. So now they're all in deep shit.
And Jessica realizes she's in love with Malone, and decides to finally tell him the truth. Too bad he went out for drinks with Louis at her request to bury the hatchet. Too bad a drunken Louis accidentally messes up on the embezzlement lie- Jeff asks him how he found out about it, and Louis starts the story with, "Well, two years ago..." Meaning that couldn't have been what he blackmailed Jessica with since that was way too long ago.
So, Jeff is pissed. Jessica tries to tell him she telling him the truth that very night, be he says its over. Because even if she did tell him the truth, he can't trust her enough anymore to believe a word she says. Besides, he doesn't even care what the actual truth was, he wanted to know she trusted him the first time. And she didn't.
The Americans- Woah, Phillip's job just became ultra creepy. So, he's being tasked with turning CIA guy's daughter Kimmie. Which is messed up given she's his daughter's age. I mean, they got onto her because they thought the other CIA guy was banging her and wanted to blackmail him with that but their bug had him spurning her advances, she definitely has a thing for older men. So it seems like the course of action is a seduction.
I mean, it doesn't come off as a seduction, which is what really makes it weird. Like, he uses stuff he learned from Kimmie to get in good with Paige. And then that last scene, honestly, his behavior didn't seem all that different from the way he acts with his children. Like when she's trying to roll some weed, he's all, "Give me that, butterfingers!" in the same tone he uses with Paige and Henry. And honestly, everything that happened in that scene is pretty innocent. Nothing sexual or anything, the most that happens is her leaning on him, and it could be seen as fatherly. But as I said, they know she has a thing for older men, so with her daddy issues, what is he going to do if she makes a pass at him?
But ha, the whole Christian thing with Paige just totally cracks me up. Like the way Phillip and Elizabeth react about her wanting to get baptized, you'd think she told them she got a tattoo. Or was preggers! Its just funny how this show turns the whole teenage rebellion thing on its side, with her rebellion being Christianity.
Other stuff, heh, look at Stan getting hit on by Callie Thorne. Obviously, that means this Tori chick has a role to play later. I am curious if he's right about the defector lady. Because he's right, something seems off with her.
What's interesting about this show is, since it takes place in the past, you kinda know how things are going to turn out. But I don't enough about history to know how exactly things go. Like, what year are they in right now? 1982? The Soviets don't pull out until 1989. So while I assume the Jennings plan is doomed to fail, I guess that might necessarily be true. Like maybe they do wipe out those CIA guys, but they just get replaced by more CIA guys later. There's still 7 years to go in the Soviet-Afghan war.
But in general, the Jennings are on the losing side. So while they are the protagonists of the show, and you can't help to root for them, since it is based on history, it doesn't seem like they can ever be truly successful in their mission, because the Soviets lost. It will be interesting to see how this all ends for them. Because as I've said before, Elizabeth is a true believer, while Phillip is not. I can see him defecting, but it would take a lot for her to change sides. So it seems like her fate is to either be arrested or killed in the end.
