Suits- Ida know why I watch this show. I mean, its good, but I swear its just so... trying. I mean, obviously you need drama to keep people engaged, but sometimes its just too much. TV is supposed to be escapism, but it can be hard to watch a bunch of people who are supposed to be friends constantly screw up their relationships with each other because of shared loyalties or being paranoid, self-centered a-holes. Like what the eff is Louis' problem? Yes, Mike is Harvey's boy, but most of the time, Mike's been good to the guy, any ill will he's shown to Louis is usually resulting of something shitty Louis did first. Like if Mike was this total dick to him, I could see wanting to "break" him, but that's not the case. (and lets not even go into how much of a dick he was to Donna and Rachel!)
I mean, I get Louis is kinda this loser schlub who's paranoid because lets face it, he's prolly been picked on a lot his whole life. So he goes the hurt people and put them down permanently so they can't hurt him route. So its hard for him to trust anybody, and he assumes people who have been nice to him for this long, were just fooling him whenever he gets even a hint of disloyalty whether its real or not. Like even when Mike tries to follow Rachel's advice of reminding Louis what he liked about Mike, he thinks Mike's trying to play him. Its like god, its a fucking circle with him, he feels like shit because he thinks everyone dislikes him, so he becomes even more of a dick to get back at them, and people hate him even more.
And he overplays his hand. He basically acts like a little brat, thinking now that he knows the secret he can just do whatever the hell he wants, talking back to Jessica and thinking he can just make Jessica and Harvey do whatever he wants forever, that he can treat them all like shit with no consequences. But he doesn't realize that now that he's a named partner, he's as culpable as they are if he turns Mike in. He's a co-conspirator, because he used his knowledge of Mike's secret to get where he was. And the kicker is he has to sign the contract that says he's such, because he can't change his mind about being named partner to now, he had to tell everyone and their mother he became a named partner. Jessica gives a speech at his ceremony about wiping the slate clean.
Wonder if it will take? Harvey is skeptical. Because Louis will use them getting something over on him as more reason to hate them and act like a dick to them and them in turn hate him even more. Donna tries to make amends though- she tells him she never told him because she had professional loyalty to Harvey. Yes, she never told him, but she never told Jessica or Rachel either. So, he demands a non-professional secret to prove he can trust her. So he asks if she ever slept with Harvey. And she admits she did, once. Now, is he going to take that as proof he can trust her, or will he somehow use it against her and Harvey?
Lots of other collateral damage from all this- Louis was going to bring Katrina back, but he can't, punishment for him carrying on like a petulant little shit as well (and because she's on 12 Monkeys). Its interesting because she knew something was fishy with Jessica just bending over and taking it (apparently Jessica knew what she was going to do 15 seconds after Donna told her Louis knew), so she told Louis to be wary. Also interesting, because it would be easy to blame her for some of Louis behavior since she sometimes encourages it, to stick up for himself and get what he wants. She's his friend and she cares for him, so all she's seeing are enemies, because that's the way Louis paints them, so of course she's going to tell him to fight.
But yeah, felt sorry for her at first, but Rachel makes her dad make her an associate. Hope Louis hears about that and feels shitty for making Rachel cry. Because he said some pretty horrible things to her, but still, she made sure Katrina was taken care of, because Louis is her friend. Of course, Louis may just take it as her trying to kiss his ass to get him to back off.
And ooh, Jeff was suspicious about all this, how Louis could just be brought back like that, so he knows Louis has something on her. So in the end, she's all, I should be honest with you for the sake of our relationship- and she totally lies, claiming the leverage Louis has is that she covered up Hardman's embezzling. And just when Mike was telling her to stop calling it his secret when its all their's. She coulda fired him a long time ago, but she kept him because she could use him. So she's reaping the benefits of his lie, so its her lie too.
And poor Scottie- to get Rachel's dad to back off in inquiring about the whole Louis situation also, he calls in a favor with Harvey, telling him to get Scottie to back off her case with his firm. Problem is, she needs it because she's just starting out with them and told them it was an easy win. So it makes her look bad. He tells her its because Louis knows about Mike, and she's pissed that she's using a secret she didn't even want to have to know in the first place to get her to do it. I mean, obviously she has to do it, because she loves Harvey and doesn't want to see him go to prison.
