The Originals- Well, that was an unexpected turn of events. So as we saw before the break, Rebekah got banished to the witch house that Klaus and company made back in the day to trap Mary Alice Claire and Astrid. Apparently, since it was basically a witch "roach motel", the covens of NOLA actually started using it to store all their witch problems. Which is fine and all, but how do they get food and stuff? And that place can't be too sanitary with all those people stuck in there!
Anyways, the Bekster meets with Cassie, who gives her the lay of the land- apparently one of the trapped groups basically took over and are running things, making everyone take pills to suppress their ability to do magic. Beks tries to send a message to her brothers, and she makes contact with someone, a ghost, which leads her to the attic, and a mysterious coffin. We find out in the end that the spirit is... Freya! aav('WHAAAATT!!?')How is that possible? Like does this mean she's been neutralized this whole time since the house is a witchy black hole? And thus, them breaking out Rebekah will actually lead to Freya getting out and actually going after Hope? So in trying to protect her family from Esther, she basically ended up engineering Freya being able to go after them? And idiot me just realized Freya is Finn's twin, not Esther's sister. That's Dahlia. Interesting though, guess baby sis will meet big sis soon?
But yeah, after the events of last ep, Cami has to go into hiding. But hey, she gets to meet baby Hope, and she's tasked with trying to help Elijah while she's in supernatural witness protection. Klaus and Hayley head back to NOLA to figure out what happened to Bekah and broker peace between the wolves and vamps, respectively.
Anyways, Finn is absolutely livid about Esther being missing and being betrayed by Cami. So, he casts a spell trapping the wolves, vamps, and Kol in the compound. He and Davina try to break it, but they soon figure out Finn is channeling something really powerful. What they don't know is its the dessicated corpse of Mikael. I'm amused Mikael's only a scary unstoppable threat when convenient. Like how was Finn able to subdue Mikael long enough to desiccate him?
But yeah, its inconvenient for everyone at first. Like, Josh and Aiden try to use it for some secret nookie time. Well, Josh does, Aiden still wants to keep things on the down low because his wolf brethren will flip out, what with the way the vamps had been hunting his kind down for the past century. Josh is a little upset about what he feels is being shoved back in the closet, particularly since he wasn't one of the vamps hunting the wolves down, he and a lot of the current vamps were made after all that.
It becomes a non-issue when Finncent continues his spellcasting, making the vamps ravenously hungry, so Josh has to stay away from his bf lest he eat him. Of course, things comes to a head, with the vamps and wolves starting to get physical- and Aiden gets cut breaking up a fight. The vamps try to eat him, and Josh saves him from one, before starting to succumb to the thirst himself. I thought it was kinda sweet that Klaus actually stopped Josh from eating his bf, not because he wanted the truce to fall apart, because Josh is kinda his grandson, and he knew Josh wouldn't be able to live himself if he ate Aiden.
Anyways, Kol comes up with a plan- Klaus tells Finn where the mother is, so Davina can raid his lair for materials to temporarily take down the seal. Unfortunately, since its the middle of the day, and their spell will suppress all magic in the area, including the daylight rings, and they have to do the spell soonish since the vamps are starting to lose control, only the wolves can get out. But Klaus, knowing Kol had something to do with the Bekster being missing (Kol says it was just a goof!) he throws Kol back in, trapping him with the vampires. Since Davina is into Kol, she begs Marcel to protect him.
Finn does find Esther, who did end up drinking to transition. So, he's kinda pissed off at his mom's hypocrisy, going on about what monsters her children were, and when given the choice, she ends up choosing to become a vamp instead of sticking to her convictions and dying. He ends up dessicating her so he can channel her too, laying his parents side by side. Poor Finn, he tells his parents about how they used to be happy when it was just them and Freya. But then they lost her, and he blames them for having "the others", who ruined everything. Heh, I guess he really did never bond with his siblings. Then again, he did lose his twin.
Other stuff, Hayley admits to Jackson she effed Elijah. Jackson understands, but tells her he's loved Hayley forever, even though he hasn't know her that long, comparatively. Heh, I'm amused he's talking about how they need the marriage so they're no longer beholden to the moonlight rings, even though he had nothing to do with the rings, having broken from the pack over that whole thing. Also, the pack still having moonlight rings confuses me. I thought the whole point of the coup in the season premiere is that they took out everyone with the rings at the same time since they weaken Klaus. Like they're acting like the only reason the vamps aren't too keen with the wolves having the rings because it will make them too powerful. I figured Klaus wouldn't suffer their continued existence if it drained him every full moon?
